Whatever they give us will be great. The fact that a new LP isn't all they're working on is so damn exciting. So much hype!
Wait a sec. That video exists still?? Hopeless livestreamed that show and eventually it got taken down. I was super bummed. Was my first time seeing TWY and I would go back and watch that whole set like once a month.
I disagree. Their last couple headlining tours were huge (a lot of sold-out shows). Not to mention, NCTH charted at like #8 or something.
Watch, all the double album/secret second album rumors getting thrown around this year with every major release and TWY are the ones who actually do it haha
I would LOVE to hear TWY tackle some political themes. They briefly touched on it on NCTH with commenting on police brutality/racism, the pharmaceutical company and how corrupt it can be, a bit of a critique on the military as well as toxic masculinity, etc so an expansion on those would be really really interesting. and yes, a Tim feature with him just screaming is lungs out would be everything
Do they have a better reason to record with him other than that he's done most of their albums? I thought the biggest complaint about the last two records was the bad mixing/production. I would love to see them work with someone else.
I doubt the work Evetts did is what causes people to dislike how NCTH sounds, people complained more about the mixing, which was Phil Nicolo. Also I was unaware people disliked Greatest Generation's mixing, I thought Trombino nailed that one. Also not to discredit the band's own growth as musicians, but I don't think the jump in quality between Upsides and Suburbia would have been as apparent without Steve Evetts.
Yeah Steve isnt the one to blame for the mixing or anything, he brings out the best in the band and I think even the band themselves would agree with that since theres obviously a reason they keep going back to him. Hes a really fantastic producer so I think he works fine with giving their albums a "live show" sort of feel. The mixing is where parts of NCTH and TGG kinda fall flat but I dont reeeeeally notice it too much when I listen to them, which is quite often. I dont think Evetts is hindering their growth or anything, I think theyve progressed quite nicely since The Upsides and even since TGG. I'm very excited to see where this next record takes them.
