Yeah when they said they were doing deep cuts at riot fest I was kind of hoping for what they did here lol One day I will get to see WSP again
I forget how lucky I am to be living in Philly. Hell, I have seen them do Solo & Chewy, let alone Keystone.
Am back in Philly! Will have more thoughts on the show and Chain Reaction later but man do I need some real sleep
Bored in the airport on Setlist fm earlier and that seems to be a bit of stretch, they played it at a random warped tour in 2015 and Bledfest in 2019. But yes, still super rare and such an explosion of energy in that room
Think the promotion text went out too early, listing was just removed. For those who missed it, 4 day pop-up shop (December 4th through 7th) in Fishtown celebrating 20 years of The Wonder Years. Art exhibit, tattoos, exclusive merch, etc.
@fourstarters did you catch the price? That was the one thing I didn't check because I was waiting for the go-ahead from my wife on what day we could do lol
Definitely wasn’t supposed to go live. They posted in their FB group they were just testing the ticketing site. I didn’t catch the price, just that it was at True Hand. I’m nowhere near there, but can’t wait to see photos from this.
That “Ghostbustour” with A Loss For Words & Energy is I think the first time I (tried) to see them. They were at The Green Turtle in Whittier, CA but none of the touring bands played because there was a fight during one of the local openers that got out of hand. TWY’s merch guy ended up diving off of the bar to break it up, Whittier PD got called, and everyone cleared out to the parking lot. I remember a bunch of us grabbing guitar cases for the bands and helping them load out down the stairs, I think they played a short set in someone’s backyard a few blocks away. https://www.youtube.com/@maam365 - this user has videos of the sets from a few days before (Mesa, AZ and Denver, CO). They're all literal children here hah.
Think I've told this story before, but they played the Kave (a well known Maine hardcore venue) back in 2009 on the Energy tour. My friend really wanted me to go with him, but I was a little under the weather and I listened to GSOI and the EP and was like "eh, this isn't really for me..." My friend got kicked in the mouth during TWY's set, wound up bleeding in the bathroom. Dan found him in there and brought him an ice pack. The Upsides came out two months later and changed my life and I've forever regretted not going. Took them almost 15 years to play Maine again after that show, but they've been back twice since and seem to love it.
These videos are really fun. Matt on drums, another guitarist filling in for him. I didn't realize they ever played the "Zip-Lok" cover live.
It's wild because Dan somehow looks older here than he does 20 years later. I actually used to sort Lit's mail at a UPS Store in Fullerton, CA around 2008-2009 and played the cover for them. I was supposed to meet their bass player Kevin at that Green Turtle show but texted him to skip once the show got called off.
