You definitely don't need to make it sound more pop punk to make it work, you could use (early) Death Cab, Broken Social Sound, or Modest Mouse as an example. Plenty of indie rock to look at!
Show was fantastic last night. Big ups to Public Works, really dug his set. TWY setlist was more basic than expected but makes sense with Casey. Energy of the crowd made up for that in spades, moments really felt like it was a decade ago.Band is excellent in the large stage setting but have a certain charm in a space like this that you could tell they really enjoyed. Stoked for tonight.
listening to the NCTH remaster. feels like they basically gave it the level of gloss Hum got, meaning it's LOUD but not muddy and blessedly a tiny bit more dynamic than before. the vocals are a little upfront for my liking but that was how I felt about Hum as well. overall though definitely an improvement, can't imagine reaching for the original mix over it.
It finally feels like NCTH finally picks up where Greatest Generation left off. Greatest Generation hit me in a time of where i was in college and thought i was past all the "scene" music and it just grabbed me into an absolute chokehold and has never let me go. TGG is still a top 5, maybe #1, pop punk album for me and my hopes were SO high for the follow up. I was so disappointed with the sound that very few of the songs on NCTH translated for me. I'd become somewhat of a music snob in terms of mixing/mastering around that time and really fell off hard on TWY after NCTH came out. This remaster has made me obsessed with the album. Instantly preordered the remaster. Can't wait to throw it on the hifi! Looking forward to visiting Sister Cities and Hum with fresh ears after I let the remaster sink in. Despite being a Northeast PA resident for nearly my entire life, I'm finally seeing them for the first time at warped next month. Can't wait!
I too saw that post - I'm asking around to see if I can find anything out. Odd to go a full week with nothing on the Chain calendar though.
yeah i mean not like i can make it but i have a friend in SoCal that asked me if anyone on chorus had heard anything, so figured i'd ask lol
I'm roughly 2 minutes from Chain Reaction and hoping there's truth to it. I've got Starting Line tickets for LA on Friday and would much rather drive 2 minutes instead of 2 hours.
