Mike really shining on this. There are fills and a lot of tom work that couldn’t even be heard on the original. Loving this remaster. Edit: I could still do without thanks for the ride. San Andreas is so good.
There was a point when it was their #1 on Spotify. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if the remastered version + tour helps push that back up there.
This definitely messes up my rankings. Pretty much everything outside of Sister Cities is interchangeable for me depending on my mood as far as rankings go. This album definitely joins that group when before I could only really listen to a handful of songs, which is how I feel about SC. I still think the closer is pretty weak, but besides that it’s top tier TWY with these new recordings.
Glad to see so much hype for this, well deserved. A record that at the time I thought was just as good as TGG but it slid in my estimation a little. This version stands shoulder to shoulder with their absolute best. Need a Thomas Nassiff take. Also curious to know if Jason likes it more now since he was not a big fan at the time from what I remember of the podcast.
I don't love the Sister Cities mix either but it was definitely better than NCTH. I do wonder how many people are mainly turned off by the muted start to Kyoto.
Yeah he said slow dancing was cut because the record was already too long and that he wished they’d left a few as singles. Alternate track list was considered for this new version
I agree it should be a shorter album like that. I think the title track should still close the album after Cigarettes. i’d cut stained glass ceilings tbh which has never quite worked for me although it has grown over the years. put in you in january. it needs a moment like that
I was listening today and did feel it’s jarring having Patsy Cline at 3 (2) because it’s so mid tempo compared to Cardinals, so putting I Don’t Like Who I Was Then in that slot THEN having Patsy Cline makes a lot of sense to me.
Yeah, it truly is one of the most powerful songs. If someone asked me to play them The Wonder Years, this might be the one I played first
The title track definitely works better an as opener than closer and C & S would be an epic closer so I can totally get with that track listing.
