The backing vocals have to be re-recorded. The ones on You In January in particular sound miles better now.
Dan said everything's always been there but some of this does sound brand new, not in an offputting way but I get it
I wonder if it was all recorded already but they have maybe added/substituted certain parts?? Some of the lead vocals sound like they are from different takes altogether with slightly different melodies (ie notes held longer). Then again it's possible that we just couldn't hear the vocals in full originally.
I do wonder what if anything the band will do for Sister Cities. It doesn't feel like it ever got that "essential" status like the other albums.
i mostly brought it up because that albums mix is absolutely atrocious to me lmao curious how this will land for me, never been as in love with them across the board as i felt like i was supposed to but this probably has my favorite songs of theirs on it
This is like listening to a new album. I have always had a tough time with this one because of the mix and the whine in his vocals. I swear they either used different takes or cut some ends. Patsy Cline is so different.
Is there an alt artwork for this anywhere? Want it to look different in my library from the original.
Also remembered Slow Dancing uses some lyrical threads from the record as a whole, it should be on the goddamn thing properly
I remember breaking down in tears because I missed out on tickets to the Dublin show on this tour by what felt like minutes. Now I get to see it played in full in January. Redemption.
I know a lot of the complaints about the original release were how buried the guitars were, but man even the drums sound so much clearer in this remaster, the floor toms especially pop.
The more I listen, I just can't believe this is the same record? THIS is what it was supposed to sound like?? I have always loved NCTH, but I can't believe the difference between this and the original.
