Luckily I am busy until late to help pass the time until midnight coz these comments got me fuckin psyched
It’s saying something about how horrible the original was in FLAC that a YouTube stream of the remaster sounds miles better.
It actually sounds like there are two properly mic'd and mixed drum kits on the bridge of Cigs & Saints now, fucking colossal
Did they ever give context on why they had NCTH (and SC) sound like they do? Was a preference or a narrative choice?
He might've said more recently, but the general feeling during release was due to lack of time. I remember the sentiment kind of like, "It's the best we can do at this juncture".
Dang that’s unfortunate. You’d think after how well TGG did that they’d have enough leeway to push deadlines to complete their vision
Yeah I think somewhere recently (an interview maybe?) they were so beat down and running out of time at the end of NCTH that it was essentially "fuck it, it's good enough" by the time they were done and settled on what they new was a bad mix. Please correct me if I am wrong however.
Yeah four songs in and this is mind blowing. It's basically like listening to the album again for the first time.
There was an interview recently (maybe even the teaser video for the reissue?) where Dan said that they were on tour when they got the mixes back, and he was really depressed at the time and didn't really have the time or energy to change anything. Steve Evetts even called him and said they shouldn't release it with that mix.
Yeah I think the "exhaustion/just want to be done with it" sentiment is part of what I remember as well.
This version of I Don't Like Who I Was Then sounds so, so good. It really grew into one of my favorites after listening to the Burst & Decay version of it this year
I used to have to turn up my car volume 3-4 clicks louder than any other music when listening to NCTH. Hopefully that will no longer be the case!
So is it easier to find on YouTube via VPN now? I found a few songs earlier, but nothing consolidated into a playlist or anything. it was strange.
Song sounds incredible, I'm so excited for the rest. That said, I'm a sucker for keeping my Apple Music / iTunes meticulously correct, including "Date Added". Anyone have any ideas how I can remove the original versions of this album from my library and re-add the new ones, but keep the "Date Added" as 2015? That's a system field that I can't just overwrite.
I have a way that works. It’s tedious but it works. I assume you are going to use the actual, downloaded files? Not just the streaming option?
This absolutely fuckin slaps I have said here before that I had no real issues with the original mix but fuck me there is SO MUCH detail lost in there.
