Yes yes and yes I need this so badly (but I also need the NCTH remix/master). To everyone talking about The Upsides, I still love that album to pieces. I don't really care if it's the nostalgia, the connection is real to me. I definitely wouldn't use The Upsides to get a new fan into the band, but it's just such a snapshot in time.
NCTH is #2 for me, behind Suburbia. I loved TGG when it released but maybe a year or so after I just kinda stopped clicking with most of it (still the case now) so when NCTH released I was a little apprehensive that it wouldn't grab me. I was silly to think that. I don't hate the original mix and master but looking forward to the revision. Perfect autumnal record (and better than anything that came after).
The closing track legitimately rules and points the way towards Won’t Be Pathetic Forever and The Upsides.
Ohhhhh when the drums came in I absolutely got chills. This song's been in my life for 10 years and it's like being reintroduced to an old friend.
The verses and chorus sound amazing, Dan's vocals sound super clear. Not sure if a nitpick, but the opening the guitar is a bit overpowering on first listen. Might be just because I'm so used to the original where it's much quieter though.
As someone that just never could get this album to click I am so fucking excited for this. I always enjoy when they play these songs live but I actively hate the way the record sounds in a way I can’t explain. Hell yeah
Tour is next year (not sure when or even when it will be announced, but I really like the opener I know), so it's possible that it won't be out until then. That would be a hell of a long lead up for a reissue though, now that I think about it.
