NCTH is ten years old today. Hope the anniversary stuff (new mix? tour? all of the above?) gets announced soon.
I'd imagine a small set of holiday show(s) to celebrate it is coming since they're booked pretty solid with shows until Thanksgiving. Maybe after they play their Philly shows on October 17th and 18th.
Fucking get in. I love the record as it is, but one of the first things I thought after hearing the Blackest Beautiful remaster (which was incredible) was about how good a NCTH update would be.
My favorite TWY record. Im honestly fine with the current mix but bring on that remix/remaster. Give me a new pressing and a tour’
They haven't made a bad record (GSOI!, while fun, is bad by their standards and largely disowned except when it's convenient) but given how burned out and depressed Dan was, as well as them signing off on a seemingly unfinished mix, NCTH has been somewhat tainted for me as a record. The songs are all there but only get to really pop in a live setting. Hoping the remix and remaster sorts this out.
NCTH probably has some of my favorite TWY songs overall, but collectively, it sits only above The Upsides as far as albums (GSOI not included.) Granted, this is definitely a "favorite child" type thing with me - I absolutely love them all, but, still. Very excited to hear this.
Thinking about how massive songs like Cigs/Saints, Bluest Things and Ernest Hemingway sound live and goddamn I really hope they stick the landing on this one.
Looks like Sam Guaiana did the new mix based on his IG story. He also mixed "Year of the Vulture" and the "Deadbolt" cover.
Hearing Dan talk about how dark things were looking in 2015 and now looking at the world 10 years later. Damn it didn't get much better did it. Exciting that we'll get an improved version of NCTH
I’m hoping for a full US tour but expecting a smaller, more limited run for this especially with them already doing the tour with ADTR/Yellowcard this fall.
i can't help but hope this leads to sister cities getting the same treatment. i actually don't mind the original mix on this but i'm excited to hear a new take on a generational record.
An album that saved my life and I'd still call it their weakest record outside of GSOI!, which is just... goddamn. Generational band.
Agreed or maybe 5th or on particular summer days it's 2nd. I genuinely enjoy listening to it as much as the rest of the discography.
