That was the moment of discovery of this band for me. A little late to the party but glad I got there.
The Greatest Generation is pretty easily my favorite TWY record, one of my favorites of the decade in general, and probably the best overall pop-punk album for me.
I think Hum is pretty definitively their best, but TGG is my favorite because of my attachments to it.
I respect Hum but it's probably the album I care about least post Get Stoked On It! Summer Clothes is a jam tho.
Generation > Cities > Suburbia > Heaven > Upsides > Hum > Stoked TGG is firmly first, but Cities and Suburbia can swap pretty easily depending on my mood.
I don't think there will ever be moments quite like I had with TGG, the idea of a "pop-punk" band doing songs like Devil in My Bloodstream or I Just Want To Sell Out... was absolutely mind-blowing to me. I do think Hum is probably their best work overall though.
I really thought Hum would stick with me in the same way TGG has, but I couldn't connect with the lyrics on a personal level the same way. Jesus Christ, what an album.
I discovered TWY probably mid way between Suburbias release and this release. I remember being in my kitchen at my shitty first on my own apartment listening a leaked (I think) YouTube rip of Funeral. I listened to it before the rest of the album (besides the singles) because there was so much hype. One of my greatest regrets. The hype video for this album was probably the most excited I’ve been for an album release. Also the Passing Through the Screen Door lyric video was so good. I actually have an extra copy of TGG on vinyl (black variant) that I don’t think has ever been listened to. Didn’t realize I already had it. First person to private message me can have it for cost of a mailing envelope and shipping. (Vinyl has been claimed)
Do we know what time to expect the announcement today? I thought I saw a time and want to make sure my meetings won't interfere lol
I think it's a reference to the goofy used car sales theme in the video clip. Unless they're playing at the arcade bar in Chicago.
