I agree that particular song doesn't age well at all. I do think the idea of going through one a life stage where people are exploring more and finding themselves and feeling like you still haven't found where you fit in still holds up.
Tickets for The Wonder Years and The Starting Line at the Allentown Fair went up for sale at 10 am and were instantly sold out. Praying it is a glitch and I can get my hands on two tickets. Edit: It was a glitch and I got great tickets. I know everyone here was very concerned.
growing up means watching my hoodie take months for delivery (sent to an old address too but we got there in the end!)
Today marks the 10 year anniversary of the first time I saw TWY, with Daytrader and Mixtapes. I hadn’t heard Daytrader before and I think they broke up not long after. Haven’t listened to Mixtapes since!
I still love Mixtapes' Even On The Worst Nights, and Dan's feature on Mt. Hope rules. Just great pop-punk jams.
I almost drove to Indianapolis (I think) for that tour. I wish I had since I never got to see Daytrader.
Holy shit Mixtapes. That’s a band I completely forgot about. I do def remember loving them a decade ago. Now thinking back didn’t they have a song spewing some Sandy Hook conspiracy shit? I feel like that’s what turned me away to completely forget about them until now?
Yeah, can't remember if it was a Mixtapes song or one of Ryan's solo songs, but it's definitely in there. Maura is the nicest person though. I'm happy she's still playing in cool bands.
I don't think she's released anything where she's the main songwriter in a long time - Ogikubo Station was probably the latest - but she regularly tours with The Homeless Gospel Choir and Direct Hit.
Maura is also associated with PEARS too right? Tour manager or something. Thought she dated/still is dating someone in that band
Man Mixtapes was a band I'd totally forgot existed but there was a period of my life where I was really, really into them.
Yeah, I think this came up in the accountability thread recently. It's Ryan's project Youth Culture where he spewed those awful lyrics about Sandy Hook. Just totally indefensible.
