This version of We Look Lightning is 100x better than the original

Yep exactly lol although they didn't do it acoustic at the Philly show but the other two I went to it was definitely a hardcore bummer

$12 for shipping on just an LP is brutal.

Cul-se-sac and Hoodie Weather are top 5 TWY for me, so I’m especially excited for this.

Lightning has always been one of my favorite tracks from Sister Cities, and I think it's underrated generally

This version is awesome as hell

I love the tracklist. I Wanted So Badly To Be Brave, It Must Get Lonely, and Cul-de-sac all being on here seems like they handpicked the songs for me. Very excited.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

Plenty of pop punk bands have put out albums as good as the Upsides.

I can keep going, I promise.

(for the record I would put it fourth out of their records)

Transit - Keep This To Yourself is just about as good as The Upsides and I feel like it got heavily overshadowed by The Upsides unfortunately

If we're talking about impact>quality then there are more 2010s pop punk records that are more significant for sure.

I’d compare The Upsides to Full Colapse. It made waves and inspired countless imitators but within a years time it was already being outclassed

that said it’s still a good album

Who were the imitators so I can check them out?

    Or many bands from 2003-2007......

Bands like Real Friends, Man Overboard, A Loss For Words, TSSF, etc all took The Upsides sound and went different ways with it. It was mostly just that style of writing like a diary entry that seeped it’s way into the other pop punk bands.

I think for its time it was pretty ambitious and broke the mold. Instead of just “the acoustic song” there was a ukulele led song, they took the “bitter breakup” pop punk song and made a more mature “I was the real problem here and I’m just trying to make myself feel better” instead of the more common misogynistic song.
