Hope they tour the UK around the time of Slam Dunk, not just those two shows. If the rumours of a full album show are true, I'd rather see it at a headline show rather than a festival.
Dan said in....some interview I can’t remember which (it might have been that Rank Your Records piece) that they planned to do something for The Upsides so I think an acoustic album or an EP of Upsides songs is pretty likely if they don’t record I Was Scared & I’m Sorry then they’re cowards
The only thing I want out of an upsides anniversary is for the new hope version of Logan circle to finally get the recognition it deserves. So soothing.
Jeeeeeez what a tour. I’d make a trip to either Cleveland or buffalo but I already have another vacation planned that week. :(
I really don't care about Burst & Decay 2 at all unless it has some brand new songs on it Excited regardless though, seeing SLS and FT back to back is definitely a party and hopefully the electric set is long and good
I like the Burst & Decay series, I hope they do more as they put out more music. I totally get the critique that on record the band isn’t super dynamic sometimes and Dan can be very shouty but I think B&D and their acoustic sets do a good job of showing how versatile they are.
last time they made a burst and decay, the following album was clearly a massive step up. I say let them do it again.
From the Instagram stories they've been posting for the last couple of weeks, these 4 are at least on it: 1. We Look Like Lightning 2. Washington Square Park 3. Passing Through A Screen Door 4. Cul-De-Sac
SD is very definitely the Upsides album sets, so I would imagine they might do a set or two around it.
Washington Square Park would be awesome. Would love Ghosts if Right Now or Raining in Kyoto. Flowers Where Your Face seems like a given. In fact Sister Cities acoustic as a whole would be great.
The Ghosts of Right Now was an acoustic bonus track on certain editions of Sister Cities so that's probably out. Such a fucking good take on that song.
I remember an acoustic version of Washington Square Park was supposed to be on the Upsides reissue, then taken off because they couldn't get the arrangement right. Cool they went back to it after all these years.
That song is my favorite TWY song and I love that they gave us two versions that feel like two completely different people processing the same traumatic event. The album version is one of the heaviest songs musically in their catalog and Dans vocals sound so angry and desperate. The acoustic version he almost sounds like he’s whispering sometimes, like it’s all slowly hitting him at once. fuck I love that song so much
They might do it with more orchestral flourishes or with keys only. Kinda like how they have the acoustic bonus track version of Don’t Let Me Cave In and then the B&D version is mostly piano/organ led. but ya Id rather see something like I Wanted So Badly To Be Brave or Chaser
I didn’t know there was a bonus acoustic track of ghosts of right now. Any idea how to track that down. I’d agree that Flowers wouldn’t be too different but I figure since they did You in January they would likely do it. Lightening is also one of my least favorite tracks from any album
