While I like both records a lot, I would disagree hard. Especially about Spin But I agree to disagree!
I just kept waiting for it. I don't know why they would have cut it. Going to Seattle tonight so finger crossed it's back on the list.
I like the newer stuff more too, but yeah the people I know who love them dig the older shit more. Personally, I used to really dislike them during that era, but it’s grown on me more now.
New TJ is my favorite kind of TJ. That didn’t stop the crowd from doing a semi wall of death for Hum, arguably the slowest song on the set last night.
I love June. Probably my favorite song of theirs. It’s weird to me that PvTvS is their big crowd pleaser, it’s such an “eh” of a song.
Oh hey so after the first vip song soupy mentioned they've now officially played in 50 states (montana) Set for 19 people. It was amazing
Went to the Chicago date last night. Everyone was fantastic. I hadn’t seen TWY since the 10 year anniversary shows in Philly in 2015. So it was different seeing them but there being no songs from The Upsides and only 2 from Suburbia.
I went to the Chicago date last night too and have mixed feelings. Unfortunately I thought doors were at 6PM and bands at 7PM, that's what I read online, however it was a crazy early show. I came from Michigan and arrived at 7PM and Tigers Jaw was just starting. I was really bummed I missed Tiny Moving Parts. What the heck kind of venue starts bands at 5PM lol. I've seen TWY countless times and this is the best they sounded. All of the Sister Cities tracks sounded so much better live than on the album IMO. However not even playing one song off The Upisdes sucked and I thought they played the two Suburbia songs at a weird time (middle set). I'm pretty pissed they took I Was Scared and I'm Sorry off the set list. It appears they have played it the rest of the tour. I understand bands have to cut out songs out of their sets due to venue curfews and shows running late, but why cut the only song you are playing from one of your most iconic albums? I feel like cutting one of the songs of TTG would have made a lot more sense. It almost seemed vicious to me that they cut it honestly. EDIT: Yeah, I am admitting the use of the word vicious here was dramatic and cringey lol. Long night/morning for me haha.
The show was phenomenal and they’re still proving they’re one of the best live bands out there. I get the Upsides & Suburbia song’s getting the boot though. They’re entering a new era for the band. I work with a lot of younger people at my job (late teens-early 20s) that listen to a lot of the same music as me, and they only know Greatest Generation and after.
