there's a hole in the sky and I'm aiming for iiiiiit e: oh, the lick starting at 4:16 reminds me of this
Yeah I'm really curious on the thought process here. Why did it need to be trimmed down for the album?
this would almost certainly have guaranteed a double LP, I'm not sure why they trimmed it for the album tbh
This is a long shot but if anyone ends up with any extra tickets for the Albany show in March let me know!
Listening to it in the context of the album, the extended cut is better but I think 7 minutes 20 is a bit long for an album track, and I don't see a way you could make it into, say, 5 minutes and split the difference. In the same way that the 10-minute version of All Too Well is great but I don't think it would work, flow-wise, if you stuck it in the middle of Red. To each their own, though.
I’d take this on the album, remove Laura & The Beehive for time and put it before ‘You’re The Reason…’
I like the album version but yeah this longer version makes it even better. Would happily have them play this live over the other version.
I get it but also like... can't imagine messing with the running order of this album. wonder if they'll ever bust this out live?
I believe Dan said the only reason it was cut was because it would've forced the vinyl onto two records. I'm not sure if that would've delayed the album more, or maybe it was a cost thing. I'm not sure.
Yeah not sure if it was cost or just how the breaks would have been on vinyl, but from his explanation of that was they definitely curate the break(s) on vinyl as well as they can to have the flip of a record make sense as a stop in the album. 100% respect that, but the more I hear this version the more I think adding those few extra minutes would have made a ton of sense in the album without cutting anything.
