After a month of having "Low Tide" go right into "Old Friends Like Lost Teeth" when I listen to the singles, "Laura and the Beehive" between them is such nice sequencing. Also, "I know how you worry and ask around when you hear the songs," god damn.
Sheesh I'm about to sign up for a free VPN trial aren't I. Any recs for any that are worth paying for? Also checking in as a toddler parent ready to get wrecked.
In addition to what I assume is a Valencia reference on "The Paris of Nowhere," is that Shane Henderson in the bridge? Sounds enough like him and it would fit for a Philly song. Also, that "you were always looking up" at the end of the bridge sounds so familiar that I'm sure it's a reference but I can't place it.
Wow, really? I could have sworn one of the Instagram Q+As said something about a cool guest feature. That part totally doesn't sound like Matt to me, but he has for sure just gotten better and better on each album. His grandmother, I believe.
I need to listen to the closer while reading the lyrics. After my first listen, Laura and the Beehive and You're the Reason I Don't Want the World to End are the two initial standouts. The most emotional gutpunches for me on the record.
Long time lurker, had to join in to talk about this album. FUCK, on my second listen now. First-born due early next year. Closer was perfection.
