I don’t find anything on Upsides cringey. It’s still well written enough from the perspective of a college kid who shares those viewpoints to hold up today.
The Upsides perfectly captured that feeling of grasping for meaning while going through a strange transitional point in your life and being depressed in normal life situations, and it did so with hyper-specific observations and those types of angry thoughts you have but bottle up because they're too mean to say out loud most of the time (or no one would appreciate them). I love it.
i still listen to Logan Circle A New Hope on the regular lmao. it's so calming. prequel to the Burst & Decay cuts for sure
If we’re doing rankings I want to preface this by saying I love all of these albums The Greatest Generation Sister Cities Suburbia The Upsides No Closer To Heaven The Upsides was perfect for my early high school tastes, Suburbia was the soundtrack to my last year of high school, TGG is one of my all time favourite records, NCTH helped me cope when my father passed away and Sister Cities is so fucking good. Im so keen for whatever’s next, this band is an important part of my life. Edit: I still stand by When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong off of GSOI, it’s dated but it’s a good song
Sister Cities Suburbia TGG NCTH The Upsides Couldn’t tell you the last time I listened to any of their albums besides Sister Cities from start to finish, though I do have a special place in my heart for Suburbia
How can you have a teaser like that and not release the record during the summer. It's gotta be here by then
I expect an announcement Thursday with Oldest Daughter having acted as the teaser. could still be wrong though.
Timeline adds up as far as the single, ~month of nothing, then another single/album announcement. Really hope so. Can't wait for this song
I am just now thinking about the possibility of a TWY tour conflicting with the Lizzo tour I already have tickets for in October, dang it
Wild to think it's already been about a month since Oldest Daughter came out. Absolutely ready for more!
I like to hear about what the summers are like in PA. I've heard they come on way too strong but at least the radio plays all new songs.
New song out tomorrow is good Almost feels more like an Aaron West song to me for a lot of the song though personally
Honestly, I kind of got some of those vibes with the first song as well. Not so much with the instrumentation, of course, but there were a few melodies and vocal lines that I thought would fit in on one of those albums as well. Interesting direction to go in after Sister Cities, if it is representative of what the album is going to be
