Everything I Own Fits in this Backpack Hoodie Weather Teenage Parents I Don’t Like Who I Was Then/You In January It Must Get Lonely (I literally have this title tattooed on my arm).
Washington Square Park Hoodie Weather I Just Want to Sell Out My Funeral Cigarettes & Saints Raining in Kyoto Ask me in a month and it’ll be different
As much as I love Raining In Kyoto, that song's mix is the 'messiest' one of the bunch. I can't quite pinpoint it, but it always sounds to me like it starts just a beat late, too. Like they should have let the drums pound for an extra bar or something.
I know you haven't been their biggest fan the last two cycles, so your praise for it definitely has be beyond hyped.
I still remember reading your first reactions to TGG and getting so hyped. It's a good sign to me that you dig this one.
Heh, funny you quote me right as I was thinking "Lost in the Lights" reminds me of early Fall Out Boy with the vocal melody.
Joined the Wonder Years' Spotify Live session today. Here's some things we learned: - According to Dan, the new album is a combination of The Greatest Generation, No Closer to Heaven, and Sister Cities. - Lost in the Lights will be the release week single - Picked Will and Steve to produce because they're two producers they've worked with before and wanted the record to tie previous ideas/vibes together as a record, so working with them they've trusted that knew the exact goal of what they want to do was a big reason they picked them. - There was a loose plan at one point to do a new EP and then a new record, but decided to put all of the songs together because they were so confident with them. The three songs that Will produced were originally supposed to be the EP songs, the rest were with Steve. - Mark Hoppus collaboration was a casual thing. Mark and Dan are internet friends/talk about sports and Pokemon. Dan went on his radio show and joked "We should write songs together" and after the show, Mark gave him his number. Mark helped Dan rearrange the structure of Wyatt's Song, as well as the lines of the chorus. Dan also showed him Doors I Painted Shut and Mark loved it a lot. Dan said Mark helped give him his confidence back as a songwriter. - Also did some writing with Ace Enders, who has a cowriting credit on Oldest Daughter. - Fall Tour confirmed - Alluded interest in doing a Greatest Generation anniversary tour, but focusing on the new record - All vinyl variants announced tomorrow 6/29 - Dan called Jason Butler "the coolest frontman of all-time" - Dan had breakfast with Chris and Adam from Fireworks, said their new record is "fucking awesome" - Might have some more festival dates they haven't publicly announced? - The band have interest in making Burst & Decay Vol. 3, but not something that will happen immediately. - Dan: "This is the best TWY record, there is no fucking question" - Dan: "We'll always put out music as long as we feel like we're putting out good music." - Favorite records of 2022 so far: Dan: Bartees Strange, MUNA, ME REX Matt: Sweet Pill, Cold Years, Carly Cosgrove Casey: Coheed & Cambria Josh: Recommended the No Earbuds playlist from Jamie Coletta - Favorite songs on the record: Josh: Lost in the Lights Matt: Old Friends Like Lost Teeth Nick: You're the Reason I Don't Want the World to End Casey: You're the Reason I Don't Want the World to End Joe Marro (The Early November/moderator): Lost in the Lights Dan: You're the Reason I Don't Want the World to End (also Doors I Painted Shut)
Man if Fireworks hadn't tweeted that their new album was coming this I would've seen Dan's comment and been like, "I'm sorry WHAT". Let's go Casey, new Coheed rules. Jason Butler is the best, I miss TBB era letlive. so bad.
Thanks for typing it all out! I wish Ace Enders would sing on a song too (not to mention Mark), but I still have no doubt in this album being great!
Hell yeah Matt, now they should just bring Sweet Pill and Carly Cosgrove on the next headliner. Way too pumped for this record.
