Sister Cities is one of those albums for me that is almost too painful to revisit because of the contents, and how those so closely aligned to my life at the time. With that said, I thought it was easily their best work, but I am looking forward to this being more 'listenable', if that makes sense. I do love the closer on SS, though.
It's funny because while I loved it at the time, I feel like I can't really return to No Closer to Heaven. Has a few good songs, but not an album I want to play start to finish. Return to Sister Cities and Greatest Generation way more.
I will also be at the Allentown show. Can't wait for that one. Unfortunately they are too popular of a band to be selling the new record at the show, but hopefully they will play a bunch of the new songs.
You’re the Reason I Don’t Want the World to End sounds like it is going to destroy people. I am glad I got the hoodie with it's lyrics on it.
I never fully related to a TWY album theme, but this one is about to hit like a ton of bricks. Also this article hits on something I really have a problem with in pop punk: I hate 30+ year old dudes who still write songs like they're 16. I can't listen to new NFG anymore for this reason.
I missed the original discography rank discussion, but: Suburbia Greatest Generation Upsides Sister Cities No Closer to Heaven
Favorite to least favorite: TGG NCTH Suburbia Sister Cities The Upsides Best to worst: TGG Sister Cities NCTH Suburbia The Upsides
I feel like this is the hardest band to rank albums for. I don’t really visit Suburbia or The Upsides as much anymore, but their impact to my life at the time was nearly unprecedented. Only to be beat by TGG. I think NCTH could be my favorite, but then it’s also mixed terribly which sets it back. Sister Cities is fantastic but didn’t have the same impact as the big three. Such a challenge lol
I think every time I rank them I change my answer lol Favorite: TGG SC Suburbia Upsides NCTH Best: SC TGG Suburbia NCTH Upsides
We all know Get Stoked On It is their best record, but I chose to leave it out of my ranking because it was too obvious.
Every album has uncannily resonated with where I've been in life when they've been released, and I don't think that's going to change with the new record. That's why I find it so hard to rank these records. Just my favourite ever band.
