i enjoy the dread! TWY is no stranger to having pessimistic lines, but Patsy is very bleak in ways that the songs prior to it havent been before. i thought it was a cool direction at the time, and have appreciated it for it ever since.
Patsy Cline, Palm Reader and the title track are the ones I'd cut from NTCH. Throw Cigs & Saints as the closer after that and its a pretty great record
Hoping the same lol. TWY are my absolute favorite band and I don't think I dislike any songs they have besides Patsy Cline. Fell so flat for me in every way. Agreed, hoping this will unlock it for me as well!
love Patsy Cline. never cared for To Be Brave though which I guess is a hot take, only song on there I'm not into
Something I've always wanted to ask them, and maybe they'll talk about it as they're looking back on that era, is whether they ever considered releasing NCTH as three separate EPs. The way it's split up on vinyl, each of the sides works well on its own, moreso than most albums, and I think that's where they run into the criticism that this album has multiple "closer" type songs.
excited for this because due to how much i hate the way it sounds i hardly ever listen to this record aside from like 3-4 songs. edit: NCTH i mean. just realized this is the hum thread which i love lol
Hope we get the like songs in the style of that album thing again like they did for the other records, and that San Andreas is included on the remaster
I had the same problem with the newest TSSF record, I dislike when albums in this particular genre end on a quieter/ballady note
I'll be a broken record about this, but Sister Cities needs this treatment also! I will put my money where my mouth is and be supporting the hell out of this NCTH remix/master, very excited for this. That album ruled 2015 for me.
