The last thirty seconds or so of Came Out Swinging is just so great. Feels like it could close out an album or a show, whereas the original could open it
getting the run down from my friend that's watching dan on tiktok right now -wants to make an aaron west graphic novel - fav on new b&d is ocean - thinks you're the reason is the best twy song overall - tried to do sister cities for b&d, "wasn't exciting for them" - wrote a new song in the vein of goddamnitall and year of the vulture, going through legal stuff with it, possibly related to wwe wrestler becky lynch? fun - editing to add, becky's husband, fellow wrestler seth rollins, did the voicemail recording when they first teased oldest daughter 3 years ago - no book for ncth anniversary but yes a tour in the works - maybe another sleeping on trash style release to get vulture and goddamnitall on vinyl - nothing for GSOI! anniversary, doesn't know who owns the rights
- no plans related to "20 years of being a band" since they're going to keep touring, have multiple unannounced tours - no Loneliest Place On Earth Fest this year - very small special show in Philly this october - wants came out swinging to go gold as a milestone for twy
I got chills when Dan's lead vocal drops out and it's just the gang vocals at the end. Made me think about the community around this band and all the friends I've made through their shows over the years. Bummer about no book (hope the re-mix/master is still happening), but I am so excited to hopefully see that album live.
Adding to this: Regarding the unannounced tours, he briefly mentioned them having a support slot The Philly show is not at the church but he said it's around the same capacity
Maybe The Barbary? That just re-opened. I think that's also the last triple digit capacity venue they played for a hometown gig.
As far as GSOI rights go, I’m almost positive they’re with Chris at No Sleep and that guy pretty much went into hiding to avoid paying his bands. He’s vanished off of the internet, doesn’t return calls or emails, and moved into an RV last I knew.
It’s wild because Chris was a fixture at shows in LA/OC for a while and seemingly burned all of those bridges with so many people. No Sleep was based in HB with a small retail shop, he moved out to the inland empire and had a house and a family, and then one day started posting about doing the van life/RV thing. Just a crazy trajectory with all of his bands getting screwed over to various degrees.
I know III just came out but I'm already looking forward to IV which is bound to have You're The Reason on it.
yeah he also said You're the Reason was their best song and Hum was their best album at the Melbourne gig
Wondering who they could possibly be support for and play similar venues that they headline. It’s been a long time since they’ve done a support slot.
Hum is their absolute best, glad they feel that way. Hope they continue to pull at that thread for their next release
I'd love to hear more songs like Vulture and Goddammitall, Songs About Death as well. Heavier Wonder Years could be a lot of fun.
Not all of this Burst and Decay record (my first one, tbh) works for me, but some of it is just wonderful. Are the others like this, where the songs aren’t just your standard acoustic renditions?
yep they've always been pretty diverse. Hoodie Weather on 2 is piano + strings treatment and it's absolutely gorgeous
