Feel like the content and messaging of hum hit me hard due to where I’m at in life. Also Dan sounds better than ever on hum.
They were so good at shadow of the city. I would bet 80-90% of people there didn’t know who they were because they were there just for bleachers. No offense to the bands before the wonder years, but the crowd was dead and the vibes were low. The wonder years come on and woke the crowd up. High energy, people were moving. Wouldn’t surprise me if half the crowd went home and checked them out on whatever streaming service.
Only time I ever saw these guys was when they supported TGG and Modern Baseball, fireworks, and Real Friends opened up for them like 10 years ago. Show was incredible.
Seen them a bunch but the TGG 10 year tour this past fall is the best they've sounded live. Dan was fantastic obviously but I also think the sound was among the best at any show I've ever been to, at a venue where the sound is typically kinda mid (Starland Ballroom).
I mostly love everything this band has put out, but Hum is definitely at the very top for me. Just so good
Hum is my most played record of the past 5 years. It came into my life when I mentally hit rock bottom and it soundtracked my journey to recovery. It's so emotionally heavy that I can't listen to it as much now, but I'm so happy they made it. Suburbia was my entry point for this band and it has songs that are still close to my heart but Hum is the record I connected with the most. 'Cause no matter where I am in my life, the hum does go on forever.
Still waiting for Hum to resonate with me like it has y'all, it's grown on me quite a bit at least but, outside of a handful of songs I can't connect with it like I can with their other albums.
I like TGG quite a bit more, but I haven't been hugely into TWY for a while now. Sister Cities is also an overall better album, imo
Dream combo. If only they were linking up a few months earlier for the Australian tour. (I would accept an Australian Wonder Years tour)
Albuquerque is a B-Market stop right? Hoping I don't have to travel too far from Philly to see this. TWY/Menz tour is such a layup, no idea why it hasn't happened before.
Could see this potentially hitting Lancaster/Millersville? Not sure what the venue sizes are for the tour though.
theres a booking company out on long island that has gotten the menzingers at a really tiny club a few times the last few years in like october/november. would be amazing if this tour came out here in one of the smaller venues.
Was thinking that could be the case. BUT if it's not hitting any of those cities then who knows? Either way, super excited and going to try and hit multiple dates on this regardless where it's coming to!
