WSP, Never Sunny, and Melrose Diner are probably the three songs from The Upsides that I would pick to be included in their sets (I know they only played two there last night but still, Melrose Diner should be in there!)

Also, I feel like Melrose Diner does not get nearly enough credit for being such an anti-pop-punk breakup song. Like, the level of self-awareness and maturity on that track is leagues better than anything their peers (and most of their predecessors) produced on the same subject. The way Dan deconstructs his animosity toward the girl in the song, where it keeps coming out that everything he "hates" about her are actually things he hates about himself, to the point that he is able to recognize her new boyfriend is actually better for her, is brilliant.

In other breaking news: this band is really good.

They never come here, ever. Holding out hope they might play Rockfest or something.

Knew that would catch your attention.

After letting my hot take cool down I will now admit MDL is as good as the original 3 (outside of a few tracks)

I will never say Go and Panic Stations are the top of their catalog.

Go is definitely my least favorite MCS record but it still has some pretty good songs on it. Panic Stations is underrated but is still probably my second least-favorite. I wouldn't say that I "hate," or even particularly "dislike" any of their records though, they're too good of a band for anything like that to be fairly said about them.

Ok I can accept this opinion. Go and Panic Stations are definitely my two least favorites, but I still think they're both genuinely great albums, and some of the individual songs are easily as good as anything they've put out (Timelines, The Worst Is Yet To Come, Floating Down A River, I Can Feel You, Days Will Run Away, Broken Arrow, etc.)

I don't think anyone could argue Go and Panic Stations are top tier MCS, fine albums though imo

There's an argument to be had for it being their best song overall. I could never narrow it down to more than like 10 though

They did warped tour a few times which I skipped, but I don't think i'd go all the way to rockfest.

When they came in 2011 it was at underworld, and i think the 5 flights of stairs to the venue scared them from montreal, haha. unless they can play like, club soda, every other venue is somehow up a ton of flights of stairs. it just makes more sense for them to play ottawa, unfortunately.

@ nick steiny you guys should play pouzza fest

I went to Warped Tour the last time they played it mostly just to see them. Saw a couple other bands that day but they were the main reason. Cardinals had just come out and they played it, it was pretty cool.

All the way to Rockfest? It's an hour and a half away! We're spoiled though, people around Chorus will drive 3+ hours no question to go see a show.

I think part of why I don't listen to Go very much is it bums me out.

Really? Why is that? I actually find it to be a pretty uplifting record. It acknowledges the darkness but also pushes forward, coming to a beautiful cathartic end with Floating Down the River.

Ok I've already listened to Panic Stations this morning, I'm going to go listen to Go now.

Edit: Hmm ok I guess when I think about it if you look at individual songs some of it is pretty depressing.

they’re a pop punk band, if you didn’t already they’re not for you. TGG is their best if you don’t like that then this just isn’t for you
