I had my AOTY squared away in November last year


And then Special Explosion happened

 

tbh i like a lotta things, especially songs. i love a good song

 

i hate music

 

I feel like if an album comes out early in the year and its around as good as the top 3 from the following year, its safe to call it an AOTY contender.

My AOTY was Flower Boy and I figured that out pretty quickly after the lacey stuff

 

Smith Street Band is AOTY for last year and this year and all years. Still listen to it so often

 

i feel like claiming your aoty too early subconsciously puts up an unfair barrier to entry for every single album you listen to thereafter

 

i didnt know my 2017 album of the year until i sat down to make my list

 

2017 and 2016 both contained records I hadn’t connected with so hard since high school

 

There is a key distinction between claiming something as AOTY vs AOTY contender

 

aoty contender is even worse because you have no idea what the other contenders are

well, some of those albums are good at least

 

i remember there was another band named Transit that was a bunch of dads and they’d always come up when i looked for scene Transit. there’s a universe where AP loved that band and i wanna see it
