Not defending them. Defending their music.

My favorite music podcast, The Sound and The Story, just released an episode on Suburbia. He breaks down every reference, concept as a whole, the bands history, everything. An essential listen for any fan of that record. (He also has done a ton of other contemporary artists like DCFC/Say Anything/Gaslight Anthem, and their episodes are as great too)

really enjoyed that, im glad David has been able to keep these going and his voice is just such a good fit for this medium. one key thing he touched on that i think has been brought up here before is the "great white hope" reference in Local Man and how it was a poor reference point for what dan was trying to convey. ofc i dont think dan meant it and i think a lot of people just dont know the context of that phrase.

I’m taken care of thanks though. Bought the new split and was rounding up on some other odds and ends I was missing from their discography.

I know this isn't from this album, but..."A Song for Ernest Hemingway" works 1000 times better as an acoustic song, right?

Not sure how I feel about this. Also whatever happened to Loneliest Place on Earth plans? Is this just that re-formatted at a cost?

Cool idea in concept but $20 a month with no option to pay monthly seems really costly, especially without more information on specifically what kinds of things you’re being sent every month.

You can pay monthly according to the website? It's the first thing on there.

It’s billed monthly but you have to commit to a quarterly or yearly subscription.

Oooooohhhh I understand now. I mean at least it's not all billed at once like a lot of subscriptions are?
I like the idea and I'm interested to see what they do. Doesn't seem like with that price they're expecting everyone to join and re-up every time, but this is a cool gift for anyone who is very much into the band. Getting this for a friend for sure!

Was considering it if it was just a solid $20 a month but plus shipping makes it even steeper
