I wish they’d swap out Lightning with Ghosts or Orange Grove

Lightning was definitely cool live but still a least favorite

It made for a good opener for sure, but Kyoto was by far my favorite new song in last night's set.

Now I'm ready for Jimmy Eat World and the Hotelier tomorrow.

Nice. They always have amazing specials and their seafood sandwiches are incredible.

Speakeatery closes at 5 tomorrow, but I'm down for a Chorus contingent trip to MOGO or something before the show!

I'm going to have lunch at Asbury Ale House with my dad and brothers for my one brother's birthday but yeah if I get hungry again closer to showtime I'll be down.

No one knew the words, not even to the chorus. It definitely got the least reaction of all the new songs. Almost as if everyone starts that album at Pyramids or something.

Weird. I got the impression people in the UK really vibed to the song.

That's really weird because the crowd seemed really into Kyoto tonight. Or maybe that was just me projecting my feelings about the song on everyone else

    forbidden chalice.

I think, to a general crowd, Kyoto might be a hard song to sing along to. It gets a while to "get into" from a casual perspective; it's not as immediate. I think from a hooky-lyrical perspective, the crowd won't latch on until the chorus, even tho the song bops throughout.

With time tho, I can see it blowing up with fans. Either that, or it was just that one show and my speculations are moot.

(I personally love the song and was drawn to it instantly. My speculation doesn't reflect my own sentiments with the song)

I would say maybe due to its newness and how it’s the first song so the crowd is warming up, but when Tellin’ Lies starts the show everyone is already LOSING it.

But Tellin Lies is made to be a live show opener. It's got this intro with that bunch of long strums/guitar wankery question-answer thing that let people know that shit's about to pop off, lets the band settle the fact they're onstage, and make people scream a little bit. And it's got the best first line since Good Things. Tellin' Lies works because it was designed to make a crowd wet themselves in excitement

I think Kyoto’s placement toward the end of the set probably had something to do with it too. Glad to hear it was different at other shows though!
