I’m so glad YWTC has been a staple now that they’re back together. That song is wild

I should listen to more Thursday, have listened to all of their albums maybe a handful of times total.

It's disrespectful really. Gotta dig back in there.

And Now I’m Nothing is the best song in their catalogue. I agree that Hoodie Weather is overrated though.

Rank Your Records: Dan "Soupy" Campbell Rates The Wonder Years' Five Albums - Noisey

REALLY enlightening article with Dan ranking all of TWY's albums.

"The thing we hear most often is that people don’t like the mix for [No Closer To Heaven] [...] As anyone who has some depression issues will tell you, you go through highs and lows, and I was really, really low. I remember when we got the mix I didn’t even listen to it. Steve Evetts produced the record again and he called me and said, “Did you hear this mix, man? We can’t let this come out.” And I was like, “Steve, I don’t care. I don’t care if it comes out at all.” I was just in such a bad place that I didn’t give a shit."

that's the most autocritical Rank Your Records i've seen yet. glad he didn't put NCTH at the top and addressed its glaring issue. i had no idea his depression influenced the mixing process.

also i'm gonna guess the Suburbia and TGG songs he'd cut out: tracks 5 6 and 11 (Suburbia), tracks 9 to 11 (TGG).

Not to be like that but reading that article and with Burst & Decay out and LPOE running, it seems that some boys are trying to escape the hopeless records ship

I realized after reading that how Sister Cities is the perfect length. It never feels stale-keeps a good pace, and there aren’t too many songs.

The Upsides will always have my heart, but SC for sure is the best one.

  19. This makes me hopeful for a set of remasters from this band eventually... I would do terrible, terrible things for a better mix on NCTH and SC.

Edit: I literally just read he loves the mix on SC. Whelp, I'll keep dreaming.

SC's mix is just fine in my book. I think a lot of people who have issues with it have been listening on spotify, where the files apparently sound atrocious.

He loved the mix on NCTH when it came out. I forget where it was but I listened to a podcast with him when the record came out and he was really stoked on how the record sounded, to the point where it was almost a brag.

Didn't @nicksteinborn say he was working on his mix of NCTH in his down time?

  23. I have the CD in my car, the vinyl, mp3s I got from an online download, and I listen on Spotify. It's rough to listen to wherever I am. I mean, it sounds better with higher quality and the EQ I have on it, but it still gets in the way of listening sometimes.

I would love a better mix of NCTH. I don’t know how people even listen to it, lol. I love this band but I can’t think of a more sensitive way to say it - no matter how many times I try I just can’t listen to it front to back because it sounds so bad.
