Following your argument to its logical conclusion, not knowing what really happened with Kai is the intended way to tell the narrative as it gives us the same “privileged” and thus limited view of the events as the guests had, as I doubt they followed up on it. this is a very interesting way to look at it and makes me appreciate this aspect more. I agree, but based on the interview White gave, it seems like he considered telling more of Kai's story but feared it wasn't his story to tell. Seems like this show was more his reconciliation with his own (rich white guy living in Hawaii) identity.
