I’m still trying to figure out why Rick would even think of going back to the hotel of the owners he manipulated, lied to and threatened to kill. Like, did he not think they would come looking for him?

I get going back to get his GF, but then, uh, immediately leave? Or call her in advance and have her meet him somewhere so they can get back home.

And yeah, anyone all of a sudden getting $5 million wired into their bank account from another country would immediately launch an investigation, no?

The more I think about the logic of the events of the finale, the less everything makes sense. Lochlan randomly coming back to life, Rick returning to the hotel, the overseas 5m wire transfer, Piper changing her mind about the monastery after one night, the quick transition from a shooting at the resort to business-as-usual. And all the red herrings didn’t even culminate to anything thematic, they were just there as subplots… I enjoyed the season overall, but we’re being asked to suspend disbelief for too many things and ignore a lot of seemingly inane shit—just seems like lazy writing.

Worst of all: who doesn't wash out a blender before making a new drink? Why didn't Tim wash it out after he changed his mind? It's obviously been Chekhov's blender the entire season, but the way it came about was silly.

I'm conflicted about the season. It might be the most I've enjoyed the show throughout each episode, but the finale was...something else. I wasn't even really looking for a neat resolution. There's just so many things that don't make sense. I see people online being like "wouldn't the three women need to talk to the cops" - like yeah probably but we don't need to see that lol. I'm not asking for them to spell everything out; they just built up a lot of relationships and I feel like the way we left our characters made me feel a bit empty, but not in a way that I think they were going for.

Controversially I just don't really think the show's writing is/has ever been great.

  10. I don’t know how much this show is worried about being realistic.

There are guests staying at a hotel chain where 2 people have died and poisonous fruit hangs from trees right by your room.

I dont think this is super far fetched though. That was his tragic character arc. He wanted to be a good person and true to his beliefs but....yeah peer pressure, "getting the girl", everyone telling you otherwise....

This is kinda where I fall. I like watching the actors fuck around for the season, but if I scratch below the surface even a little bit I don't like it.

I think we could have used one more scene after the shooting. How does Belinda feel that there's now another death at a white lotus hotel? Lochlan almost died, the family goes on as if that didn't happen?

Other than that. Couldn't be happier with this ending.

The family not giving a shit about what happened to literally anyone else but themselves is a fitting end, but I do think Saxon and Chelsea's relationship was developed well enough over the course of the show to warrant at least something from him. If we're to believe he was truly affected by what she said on the beach/seeing Rick and her embrace, I would've liked to see something.

Yea, the more I've sat with it, the less I liked it. I read so many more interesting fan theories and had a few of my own that potentially could have been better than what we got.

    Ratliff Family
honestly, if no one was going to die from that family, we got robbed of some interesting 'reactions' from them all finding out the news. I hate that they cut that short as like others have said, Tim's arc had been static for like 4 weeks and then a very lame, limp ending.
Also agreed on Pipers dialogue... I get we were injecting some humor there, but eh, just didn't work. I was fine with Lochlans dialogue that someone else had an issue with and I truly felt bad for his spot in the family by the end. Totally ignored and unconnected but wash that blender man. especially after the 'coconut milks' gone off last beverage from it.

    Mook / Gaitok
It was a little silly he got promoted to head bodyguard so fast, and Mook was just the worst by the end. So superficial and obviously only into finding someone with status. It also seemed silly to have taken all that time to show that even though he'd never fired a gun, he was a bullseye with it, yet with no explanation of Rick's backbround and he's Mr Headshot
    Rick / Chelsea
why did he go back? ha. I just didn't buy the revenge quest all that much and his anger. Felt undeveloped and then rushed at the end. Also predictable for Chelsea and with the way that it happened I was more angry at Ricks stupidity than upset she was caught up in it.
    The Girls Trio
This arc was fine I guess and at least they were shown to be processing the shooting from right in front of them. I still don't get the final dinner. Was the point just that Laurie was the only who was real? The other speech's about having a good time, and reminiscing on their friendship felt fake. I really don't know what Mike White wanted us to think about each individual person by the end.
    Belinda
The son was super annoying and all that humor fell flat for me but hey, he negotiated a big pay day. Agreed on that just being transferred as silly, but I did like this arc for Belinda - just ditching Pornchai without a second thought even thought - she knew how much that hurt - but he was also a little eager and fast with that idea. I could see the son or her in a new season with that newfound wealth and just spending it like there's no tomorrow on whatever white lotus they pick.

    Fabian
    pointless besides some comic relief
I'm not going to go into all the minor characters. So many red herrings and guest connections and webs left untouched by the end. A pretty boring, rushed, and sloppily executed ending.

Gaitok shot the gun at the gun range and Rick was clearly a shady dude that was probably a fixer or some shit

Yea I referenced that scene with Gaitok. That was needed context for the end. I just didn't get any clues that Rick was comfortable with a gun before that point and he was pretty on the money with it. Oh well. Minor complaint... but that's the kind of mood I'm in after thinking about it. A lot didn't work for me, but not enough to have ruined the journey I guess. I did enjoy each Sunday night and always looked forward to it but meh on how they chose to wrap everything up.
