I have a collector's personality. I used to own close to 5,000 individual comics and I had like 4 bookshelves full of books. Organized by subject! Sadly, I had to sell / donate most of what I owned when my fiancée moved in. There just wasn't space. In short, mid 20's Scott would have been all over that thread! Haha.
I need to figure out what to do with my comics real bad. Been collecting for a year, the trades look fine on a shelf but I have so many small issues I'd like to look at all the time.
I gave some to friends, sold some, and donated the remaining to libraries, a hospital, and a children literacy non profit. But it was actually surprisingly hard to find places willing to take them.
I meant I'm looking for a way to display them. I'm still in the honeymoon phase of collecting so I have no interest in getting rid of them, ha. I've always adored my dad for saving his collections for me so I'm not expecting to ever really get to the point where I want to get rid of them.
Ah!! Hahaha. Yeah, I had a lot of plans for my collection too. But real life came at me fast haha. My collection was just taking up way too much space in a small apartment. And paying for a storage facility was just prohibitively expensive. :/ I hope you are able to hold onto yours. It's a cool thing to pass along.
Well sports fans, that is a wrap. Finished Eye of the World a few minutes ago. The Audible book has an interview with Robert Jordan at the end of the book, but listening it appeared to cover the series as a whole so I was a bit wary of spoilers and decided not to listen. Should be starting book 2 tonight.
Not sure how long it is or the depth of it. I started listening and realized the questions were more broad than Eye of the World and stopped.
So, I am a few chapters in on Book 2. I just finished a damn fine chapter where some shit really hit the fan (trollocs! severed heads!) But man, are the names of people, cities, etc. beginning to get hard to follow. I'm not sure who I am supposed to know already and who I am just being introduced to. I am trying to follow along using the wiki, but they just provide a series overview of characters, so spoilers abound. Gonna just try and push through.
Yeah, don't use a wiki, I tried that for a little bit and I ran into a few spoilers. Best advice I can give is just push through, you'll get it eventually. Every single book adds more and more characters so it really never lets up in that respect. I found that this site helped when it came to following the maps on a book by book basis, the problem of course being that it shows the entire route for the book so if you're paying attentions you can see where their final destination for the book is. I find it helps most when finishing a book and preparing for the next. The Wheel of Time Routes There was an app for A Song of Ice and Fire where it was basically a wiki but you could type in what book/chapter you were on so it avoided spoilers. That was sooo nice.
Started book 12. Immediately one of the most satisfying things in the series Faile stabbing the fuck out of The Prophet. You are goddamned right. I knew I loved her for a reason
Wow. Book two gets off to a crazy start! I love it. Update: Still strongly dislike Mat. Will keep you posted. Hah
When you read these books do you need to do so back to back? Or do you somehow remember what happened in the previous books
I don't know if I should re-read the first one before I start the second one. it's been a few years and I don't remember much at all. but maybe I can read a summary instead
Lol, really? That's sad to hear, he hasn't gotten to Mat yet. So far I'm happy with the way he's writing it. He seems to be changing povs with every chapter, instead of Jordan's way of sticking with the same character for like 200 pages.
I tend to be of the opinion that when you're confused in fantasy you should just push through and eventually it will click. It would definitely be an ideal scenario to read it again but if you don't feel like reading a big ass book again I think you'd be fine. Eye of the World is the most stand alone of any of the books. I'd be surprised if there's more than 1/10 of the full series characters in it, ha. At the very least, read the prologue again.
Just amazing moment after amazing moment, Egwene finally standing up to Elaida (if I had one complaint her imprisonment has been a bit long)/ Cadsuane spanking Semirhage, ha.
