So the opposite! Bloody hell! Lol I just googled it and the wiki says Dee-Ann so that's what I was going off of.
I used to daydream about a WoT adaptation, but now it's just a terrifying thought since it wouldn't be guaranteed to get all of them.
He pronounces this closer to "Uh-gwain" or "Eh-gwain" if that makes sense. EDIT: And I just got to the moment when the group gets separated. Rand & co. are now traveling down river on a boat, where they foolishly gave up their coins in payment for transport. Now the bond is broken and they can't be tracked. Additionally, I am hating Mat pretty hard right now. I always hate his type of character. So far he: was about to tell the bath attendant about Trollocs despite being specifically told to keep a low profile, pulled that "prank" or whatever with the Children of Light that forced the confrontation between them and Rand, and then just blindly followed an obvious bad dude when there was a promise of treasure. I would have left his ass behind.
Man, Mat is annoyingly obsessed with treasure haha. He just mentioned it again passing a tower on the river. Did you not learn your damn lesson, Mat?! Edit: also, I can't imagine what Brandon Sanderson writing in this world is going to be like. Jordan has almost none of the annoying tendencies that Sanderson seems to have. I hope it isn't too distracting.
Haha, yeah Mat took a bit to grow on me. From what I've seen shuffling through fan websites he's a lot of people's favorite character. He constantly keeps the comedy going.
That's where I'm worried. I almost always find the comedic characters indescribably annoying. I was the kid who hated Michelangelo from TMNT. I just can't help it. Merry and Pip? Can't stand them. Also, Mat kept the damn dagger from the treasure. Damn it, Mat!
I'm with you, I mentioned in either this thread or the book thread that I am not a fan of comedy in literature (unless its horror and dark as fuck, I find that amusing, ha) but something about Jordan's writing and his characters really sparked something in me. I've laughed out loud on more than one occasion. He's got a way about him, I can't describe it, but I'd say it's one of my favorite aspects of him as an author. And me and Garrett are just snickering about this dagger thing knowing what we know about the story, haha.
Let me add, I'm referring to the movies. I haven't gotten around to the books. Not sure if that helps.
A tad. I just finished my listen through of The Hobbit through ROTK. Jackson did quite a few characters dirty.
I'm queuing up the Dune series and LotR to follow (or possibly to provide a break from) The Wheel of Time. But I think my dislike for these types of characters has a lot to do with my personality. I'm a pretty rigid rule follower. Haha
Stopped in a used bookstore and picked up Eye of the World and Great Hunt in physical form. Couldn't help myself.
On chapter 34 of 53. Rand and Mat keep encountering dark friends haha. Rand just got the chills after having channeled the source earlier on. The Children of the Light have Perrin and Egwaine
I have books 1-11 on Kindle, just started buying Sanderson's and I bought the prequel. Wish I would have bought them from the beginning, would have been a nice collection to have, and then I wouldn't have had to print out so many damn maps. If I ever see the whole collection cheap at like a yard sale or something I'm jumping on it.
Fuck yeah. Those look great together, now I NEED to get them. edit: ugh words of radiance is such a monster
Most of them are my local used bookstore pretty regularly for under $4.00. How far are you from Knoxville?
Ha, yeah I think most of them I can get used from Amazon for a cent plus 3.99 shipping. I never felt that absolute need to get them until now though, haha. And yeah I have a Sanderson shelf I'm pretty proud of. Believe I have everything on there. A few paperback inconsistencies though, like TWOK in paperback and WOR is hardcover.
Sorry for my help in that, haha. I've got a joint Sanderson (the six Mistborn, Elantris and Warbreaker)/Stephen King paperback shelf. If I start a series in hardcover, I have to finish it in that, or reverse it in paperback... or eventually re-buy everything. I'm proud of my shelves, haha.
I'm a completionist when it comes to authors I love but I don't tend to stress on the paperback/hardcover. If I'm thinking ahead I'll always make sure to stay consistent, but once I already own the book it's "mine," if you know what I mean, I'd feel weird having a paperback version of IT for example because I've spent so much time staring at my copy. My Stephen King shelf is the best because it's an entire, 5 story (i think) book shelf with nothing but King and it's literally every single one of his books. It's all over the place though because about half of them are OG hardcovers from my dad and the rest is filling in the blanks. I wish it had one more shelf that I could put Joe Hill's books on. My horror collection is pretty solid.
This makes me want to have a book collection sharing thread (Book Thread?) because bookshelf porn is the best porn.
