Thinking about starting this. Are the last 3 just as good in quality? If I commit, want to make sure I go all the way and it be worth it.
@jkauf I love the whole series. The last three ARE good, but it took a little bit to get into the flow of Sanderson's writing of certain character. The good news, though, is that Brandon is one of the best fantasy writers currently alive.
Glad that Lan's finally back but I Morraine should have left him to Nynaeve. I guess I'll see what happens Also the scene at the Sun Throne was a favorite.
Like right after I posted that Egwene started freaking out and sent him after Nynaeve, ha, so I'm happy. I'm loving everything in Ebou Dar so far so I'm hoping that comes to a pretty sweet conclusion. I just met Cadsuane as well who seems...interesting to say the least.
It's a bit jarring how important she seems to be right away yet she hasn't been mentioned before as far as I can recall. It's possible her name was mentioned but nothing big. Very curious about her intentions.
I always have to slow down during Min chapters to wrap my head around her tellings and try to decipher them. She's probably been my favorite part of this book.
Holy shit... "He ravaged my home because it was my home...He brought Trollocs to kill my friends because they were my friends. He is a Darkfriend, and a dead man."
Jordan's humor really gets me. "No need to shriek like a cat," Nynaeve growled, appearing in the stairwell. She was looking back over her shoulder down the stairs, though. "You hold her tight, you hear me?" She shrieked like a cat.
Well that was a hell of a fucking climax. The second half Crown of Swords might have been my favorite yet. It's weird to think it's about to slow down since everything seems to be coming to a head. I love Cadsuane. And I'm halfway through! Hooray!
Book 8 was great. Not necessarily as many moments that make my jaw drop as the previous novels but an excellent look at the breaking of the Aes Sedai and more rooting out of the Black Ajah. This was probably the the toughest I've had keeping up with names since Jordan threw the entire Aiel culture at you in Shadow Rising. Seanchan invasion was fucking awesome, I want more POV from them immediately, they might be the culture I'm most interested in at this point, which is saying a lot because every culture is super interesting. I hope Mat's ok. If I was Rand I would immediately start worrying even more about Taim, either he knew about the betrayal or he was so shortsighted he let it happen, both are bad. I suppose the conflict is that he's never trusted Taim or the Black Tower despite needing them but this is a lot! Poor Faile...The fact she has to depend on Berelain is hilarious.
@Vivatoto -- When you start book nine, make sure you have uninterrupted time for the last two hundred pages.
Well that sounds exciting. That's how I attempt to ready any climax, I'll make sure to do it for that one
It's arguably my favorite moment of the entire series. But I'm notorious for liking the most random moments. But, I'll hype it for you in hopes of getting people on my side, haha.
I love hype/ something to look forward to so hype away! You haven't let me down yet. I'm going to read the companion book World of The Wheel of Time before I read book 9. I've been looking forward to it (ASOIAF's was great and helped me a lot with understanding the world) but supposedly it has book 8 spoilers so I've been waiting all damn year
Ok so read the companion book and loved it, but it's worth noting I'm a big fan of that sort of thing, it's nice to just sit back and focus on the lore instead of wondering where the hell Mat is or who Nynaeve is going to be pissed at next. It's not even funny how much that sort of stuff helps with my understanding. Thought this one was done really well, maybe not as good as ASOIAF's but more or less the same execution. So many things that I didn't pick up on that made me say what the fuck...Like the Age of Legends, that shit was crazy, they had hover cars....hover cars!....I think they were levitation by the one power but still! wtf! Everything I learn about the Seanchan makes me fall deeper and deeper in love. Maybe, like my favorite fantasy race ever? I also noticed on the map that there is a place called the Tower of Midnight in Seanchan so now I'm just going crazy hoping the story takes us there. And how great would the Land of the Mad be? I can't imagine Jordan will ever take the characters there, like Sothoryos in ASOIAF....I wish though...on both of those. I'd also love to see Shara, that seems more possible. Starting to realize more and more how much I love this series. Up there with Dark Tower and ASOIAF for me, no doubt at this point. @Garrett L. Not sure how entertaining it would be just picking up if you weren't knee deep in the story, I'd rec definitely grabbing it when you do your rereads though. Since you don't have to worry about spoilers it would probably be nice to read it after Eye of the World for like a quick primer or something.
Mat's rescue in Winter's Heart was awesome. So glad that Tuon finally showed up, Mat's reaction to hearing who she is was the best. I feel like Jordan has to be having the most fun when writing Mat. The final scene with Tylin was surprisingly sweet. Domon continues to intrigue. I have the same sort of bad feeling about Noal that I had with Selene.
