Apple Books has good deals from time to time. My friend who is an indie author likes to get deals through Chirp (it's a newsletter done by BookBub, I believe). But, yeah, Audible has an insane headstart on the English-speaking market. StoryTel is dominating in non-English countries in Europe and a lot of authors are waiting for them to compete with Audible.
I have an Android phone, and they have audiobooks on the Google Play store, and I usually find them to be a little bit cheaper than on Audible. Not a huge difference most of the time, but they also have some books that are large for $14.95, so I've lucked out on a couple. It's worth checking out though.
Yeah I browse the sales on Google Play and Chirp if you're not looking to spend 15 bucks a month for Audible
I'll look into both of those. I actually have some audiobooks on Google and I just forget that that's a thing
I’m fully expecting it to be less obvious than the books, haha. But yeah, this is the first thing that’s felt more for drawing people in than appeasing book readers. Which I do think needed to be done first.
When I first read The Eye Of The World, back in 2010, was around the same time I read Dune for the first time. So it's weird to me that we're getting adaptations of both within a month of each other. I just hope the WOT is received as well as Dune is being And yes, not proud of the fact that 11 years later I'm still on book 5
Open in YouTube and you can move the video around and see words on the wall, the Aes Sedai logo on the floor, Baalzamon's eyes... it changes as the trailer progresses.
I'm pumped. I won't over analyze it and pick it apart, but I have watched it a few times already and am optimistic that we are going to get a well produced show. I may have story complaints, but to me it looks like the part so far. I saw some images of the whitecloaks that as a still didn't look good, but I hope on screen they work.
Every glimpse of actual footage of this so far has only quelled any of the doubts I may have had. This looks phenomenal. Cannot wait to watch this.
Seeing a Yellow Aes Sedai burning at the stake in the trailer kinda goes against the cheesy vibe, I'd think.
Trollocs were one of the things I was a little worried about. I felt like there was a risk of them coming off as cheesy and not scary, where I remember feeling palpable fear when they first show up in the books. I think they look great in the little clips we've seen so far, even though I think the scary MVP so far is the Myrdraal's horse!
The only thing I havent liked is that poster that looked like fan art but they've definitely stepped it up since then. Even watching the actors talk about the show in interviews and seeing that the know how large this is is surreal. I'm excited. I get there will be changes but thats not what I want this to be for me. I'm excited to show it to new people. New readers. New discussions. The whole scope is astonishing. The little tidbits that we see and discuss. The trailer breakdowns, the discussion channels. It really is a welcome new era in the Wheel of Time journey for new and veteran fans.
Is it just me, or do each of those weaves also resemble plot points of the greater book series for each character?
Has anyone here seen the leaked image of Loial on the WoT Reddit page...??? Not sure if it's legit or not, and there's a strong chance the effects are unfinished, but still really cool to see.
If you missed it, they released the seven posters in this tweet thread: And then people found the weaves hidden in a secret part of the file.
