I think theres only going to be a panel for Origins and they just added some stuff in. Quite enjoyed the trailer! SHADOW RISING!
Finally finished Memory of Light today and the Wheel of time series today. I also started a rewatch of the show and I appreciate it much more than my initial watch (had only read Eye of the world at that point). Almost a full year of investment in these books but it was worth it.
Thanks! It was quite the undertaking but I ended up loving it. A few (spoiler free) things I noticed: - My pace of reading went up significantly around book 5 as I finally felt like I adapted to Jordan’s style (which I still am not a huge fan of, but the story/world building made up for the bloat). I plowed through the second half of the series faster than I did the first 2 or 3 books total! - I didn’t feel the slog much. Sure, not much happened in 8-10, but I didn’t hate the time I spent with them as much as I expected! - I’m pretty impressed with how great Brandon Sanderson did closing out so many massive threads. He did Robert Jordan and the story proud! - Very pumped to see how the show handles the next few seasons! Definitely appreciated it more seeing some of the context of the later books. - Characters I hated I ended up liking way more at the end. Very cool to see each of them progress! - Bosom may be the most used word in the entire series.
does anyone know what's going on with this? It's been so long without news. Any rumors/ideas of where it fits in Amazon's release schedule? I hope it's not all the way out in Nov/Dec again, and if it is, that season 3 is right behind it. For a show with such a built in fan base, and the budget, and the 3 season commitment, the talk on it is so quiet. I had issues with season 1, but it was still a great weekly watch with potential.
I haven't read anything official but I've been figuring it will be out this year around the time of year that the first season came out...
Season 2 is done filming as of May 2022. Predictions are around for a late spring/summer 2023 release. It's 8 episodes again and including storylines from books 2 and 3.
I really liked The Rings of Power show also on Prime, but watching that one did make me feel kinda bad for this show. It felt like Rings of Power got every benefit of the doubt when it came to everything from Amazon, including BILLIONS of dollars, a large number of guaranteed seasons and even episode runtimes, while this show really seemed to draw the short stick in all of those departments. I try not to hold things like the ending of the pilot episode being insanely rushed or the very wonky-looking battle at Tarwin's Gap against this show.
I do like that they've addressed this specifically and admit it's not great. Episodes 1-6 were filmed pre-COVID, 7-8 after, so it changed all the rules/amount of people allowed in a scene at the time, etc. It's why Mat stays behind (if you believe the he wouldn't get vaccinated so couldn't return to set rumor), too. Makes me mad that one of my favorite properties was affected so greatly by the outbreak (in the "things that don't really matter" side of things).
Part of me expects that they're aware of the criticism on the CGI and are going to get it right and that's part of a longer delay. Now to me, it wasn't just the CGI, but both my wife and I (non book reader) found the hand gestures and the display of channeling... not quite right. Obviously, they can't just completely change it, but I do hope it looks better and less goofy.
Kind of glad it's taking a while, giving me time to read the books. Almost done with the 5th currently.
As bad as I think episode 8 was, I think WOT was overall more enjoyable than ROP, which I struggled to finish. Maybe ROP is more competent & impressive, but it's also pretty boring
My biggest complaint for Wheel of Time was how goddamn rushed it felt. The pilot basically ends with the Emond's Fielders leaving everything and everyone they've ever known and loved in their lives because Moraine says the runtime is up. But I know they had no control over that and begged for a double length pilot and got shot down, and pushed for more episodes as well and got shot down on that too.
I never really pictured what the insect like armor of the Seanchan would look like… but yeah, this kicks ass.
