Does exile from Aes Sedai include your Warder? I get that Lan is going with Morraine but are Warders more like connected to the Aes Sedai as an entity or their individual Aes Sedai?
Not a book expert by any means, but I have always thought that a Warder's loyalty is to their Aes Sedai in particular and not the organization as a whole. Any loyalty they have to the Aes Sedai organization is through their bond / through their personal Aes Sedai.
Jesus i accidentally ended up on r/whitecloaks because I wanted to find info about Barney Harris and it is full of miserable people
Warders pretty much always side with their particular Aes Sedai unless they’re not bonded. Then they fall towards the Amyrlin, mostly. There’s something that happens in book 4 or 5 that kinda shows it all.
Gosh we are moving so fast. That episode was pretty good, but my non book reader wife was like, “wait, the builder guy is going with them?” and I realized they really didn’t explain why Loial is there much less why he’s going with them.
My main complaint is that it *feels* like we are racing through the story at a breakneck pace - and I don't mean compared to the book, I just mean it feels like we are racing through this story that the TV show is telling and blowing by all sorts of moments that would be nice to slow down and savor a little bit. This makes it all the more odd when they decide to really zero in on, and spend a lot of time with, a character like Stepin. I do like the character a lot, and I know that his story was sort of also a way to explore and explain the concept of Warders to people unfamiliar with the book, but it's rough that we've barely gotten a couple of scenes with Thom Merrilin and it felt like weve gotten a lot of Stepin so far. I suppose it's always better to leave the viewer wanting more than it is to overstay your welcome, but I'm loving this world they've created with the show.
My one friend who read the books said they move rather slowly so I think it makes sense unless they want this series going on a million years lol
It looks like we're getting the Blood Snow this week! Also looks like, via an image leak, we get LTT next week.
My goodness, Tigraine and the Blood Snow was amazing. MIN! Machin Shin, Padan Fain… if this is what the show will be like while firing on all cylinders, it can only go up from here. Living for every moment we get with Lan and Nynaeve.
It’s probably a side effect of them actively making Rand the least interesting thus far to not give away the obvious Google search.
But we are getting the long overdue Lan/Nynaeve fan service and I will live in this splendor forever.
It does appear that the mystery thing worked pretty well, as apparently a lot of non book readers weren't sure who The Dragon was this whole time, but leaning into the mystery like they did absolutely hurt Rand's character for ≈ 87% of this first season. I'm hoping season 1 is seen as a success by Amazon and Rafe gets some of the things he was pushing for in the first season that Amazon overruled, like the 2-hour series premiere and a couple more episodes.
Really like that they tied in the Aiel battle/Tam’s fever dream/reveal of Rand as the dragon into one episode. I think as far as pacing and focus on the main characters, this was my favorite so far. The Ways were fantastic as well, along with Machin Shin.
I figured it was Rand when he was the last one to channel or show signs of it. Felt like they kept him quiet in that regard for a reason.
Is there no animated short this week, or am I just not having luck with the stupid x-ray feature...???
