The warders around the fire. Alanna. Arrow rain. Woke up immediately thinking about this episode again.
I did the same thing - woke up thinking about this episode and wanting to watch it again right away. I think I'm gonna have to wait until tomorrow to rewatch it with my wife though.
I’m up in the mountains at a cabin with some literal lifelong friends (my buddy is 19 days younger than me and I was in the hospital waiting room when he was born) and I’ve been debating forcing everyone to watch all four episodes… Will definitely be watching it tomorrow no matter what once home, though. I like that they established that saidar users can’t see saidin, but I’m curious if saidin users can see saidar now instead of the skin sensation because of how Logain reacted to Nynaeve.
I'm always torn on the binging thing, and do think it is sometimes good to take a little bit of time to watch something as opposed to binging an entire season in a weekend - but I do somewhat question the wisdom here with this show of releasing the first 3 episodes and then making people wait for the rest when even the creators themselves have admitted that the show doesn't really get great until the 4th episode. I don't want to be too critical at this point because it feels like the show is really hitting it's stride now, and I realize that this was a MASSIVELY challenging adaptation to bring to the screen. The feeling I had after watching this episode was what I was really hoping to be feeling after the pilot episode and I definitely just wasn't there, but I am now, and it is awesome.
I did like the other episodes but this was a massive step up in quality and closeness to the book. I'm gonna watch it again.
Watching episode four again and Nynaeve wearing yellow under green is such a great costuming choice to show her as a character in light of the Ajahs
It's great to see Nyneave having a good time around the fire. The books (up to the point I've read) lack that kind of moment for her I get why they made the change that The Dragon can be any gender, but it does sort of create a plot hole as it relates to the taint and all that
So does that logain stuff happen in book two? I finished book one but did I miss where warders and aes sedai fuck?
Logain is being expanded for the show. But he is gentled off screen in book one and you find out about it in book two, I’m fairly positive. Greens and their warders are known to do that, but no idea when that starts appearing in the books. The other Ajahs don’t in the books, but it may be an adaptation change going forward.
Logain storyline was absolutely awesome. The way the voices in his mind were depicted with the faces inside his channels was great.
Never read the books but am enjoying the show. Love the change of mainly Women being mages/magic users. I wonder if The Witcher series was influenced by this? The actress who plays Nynaeve, Zoe Robbins is great. Getting a big crush on her/her character.
If I recall correctly, the depiction of women as powerful magic users/strong female POVs was pretty revolutionary for its time in a genre where that wasn't the case, to Jordan's credit
I think Aes Sedai are pretty clearly inspired by the Bene Gesserit in Dune (though the latter are kinda lame)
