Yeah I can definitely see that, it's just banger after banger on there. Lil Haiti Baby is still one of his best songs and the album has some other gems like Xanny Family, Seven Rings, and Lie To Me. Might have to revisit it today.
yeah its really solid. i think it just came out at the wrong moment and then wicked was the big solo single from that period. i fuck w low life very heavily too
Agreed about the timing. Honestly I kinda feel the same way about WATTBA. That project is much better now than I remember it being probably due to the massive amount of hype surrounding it at the time. There was never any way it was going to meet those expectations. Maybe it's just me but, for me, Future goes in on every song and Drake has his moments too even though he's pretty much biting Future for a lot of it.
DS2 has Perc and Stripper Joint, which other than Low Life because of Abel, is my favorite Future song. With all that being said, I'm not ready for all of this music. I'm still not over Starboy and it's constantly on repeat for me. Bino dropped today, and Cole is coming next week.... jesus
I saw Future in March on the Purple Reign tour and EVOL had come out a while earlier but he still didn't perform any of the evol songs. Was extremely disappointed
I don't think his solo material is too repetitive, but I do think that once Purple Reign came around it got to that point because it was just overload with much of the same topics/style. But it's still pretty good in my mind
wattba is fine for what it is, i guess. its fun in the moment but the pathos isnt there to elevate it imo. drake just distracts too often, he's not an effective foil for future. the one time they really connect is "diamonds dancing" and even then drake has that outro that feels like it lasts as long as the entire rest of the song.
This Weeknd thread needs more Purple Reign love. I like it better than EVOL. The one two punch of Perkys Calling and Purple Reign is one hell of a way to end the tape. I think I like Future more on Six Feet Under here than on All I Know, but I still need to give this a few more listens.
It's kind of unreal how much I'm loving this album. I'm so impressed by how consistent it is for being 18 tracks.
There's some good songs on here that I'll go back to but it's not an album I'll listen to from to back.
Yeah I know I just thought it'd be like 20/20 Experience or 25 or something where the sales would be big because people liked the last one
