You called an artists solo material boring and repetitive and it made me laugh because it couldn't be further from the truth. Even if Future wasn't one of my favorite artists i find it to be an off base claim. Didn't mean to be condescending i couldn't think of anything else to say to it. My bad
Not much point commenting if you're just gonna write "lol", you just come across like you're taking the piss. The only projects from him that I like are Beast Mode and EVOL. Genuinely can't recall any songs from anything else he's done, they all just blur together. I like his sound a lot, I guess I just don't find his songs to be that individually distinctive from one another, and as a result much of what he puts out is totally forgettable
Hmmm weird EVOL is your favorite when that and purple reign are often criticized for being more of the same from him, though I personally still love EVOL. Still, his run of Pluto - Honest - Monster - Beast Mode - 56 Nights - DS2 is one of the best in the genre ever. Each project is extremely unique and he builds off of what he accomplishes on each with every consequitive outing. If you like BM and EVOL I think it's worth revisiting 56 nights and monster at the very least, 56 nights is his opus in my eyes even if the consensus is on ds2
You may be right, I'll definitely give his other projects another listen at some point. It could be that I just need to spend more time with them. For what it's worth, I genuinely think Beast Mode is great.
I actually haven't listened to him outside of WATTBA and features. By far my favorite I've heard of him was Diamonds Dancing
Big Rings, Plastic Bag, Jumpman and 30 for 30 Freestyle are the ones that stuck for me from that release
People defending kiss land but dumping on Future Hendrix for being "repetitive" can't believe this shit My guy Nayvadius made four albums in 8 months with distinct musical approaches and chronicled stages of depression and addiction without flinching and wrote the best R&B song of the decade but he's too repetitive
Funny that this thread just turned into a conversation about Future because I just started getting into his music last night with EVOL and thought that album was really tight. I'm excited to go backwards from there and to revisit 56 Nights
honest is probably more emotionally connected to me but i listen to evol way more and it feels like a more complete project pursuing a defined vision
like honest is great but it is a little scattershot and "i won" should have been left on the cutting room floor meanwhile evol is like laser focused on communicating a single idea w/ a clearly defined aesthetic
Monster is my fav still. Beast Mode a close second. The rest are all great though. I don't listen to EVOL as much as I should.
I can see what you're saying about Honest being scattershot as a whole album. I think I just enjoy listening to it more than Evol, which hasn't had all that great replay value for me. Haven't listened to it for a long time though to be fair.
