I liked BBTM but it had its share of filler. That album does NOT prepare you for how good this one is.
This is definitely his best project since 2011. I love BBTM but it wasn't cohesive at all, which I'm glad to say isn't the case here
Not only is this more cohesive than BBTM, but the songs are much stronger too. And I really like BBTM.
I really do think BBTM was a transitional album now. He needed to make it to find his footing in pop, and now he's making these sounds his own.
Definitely, it's like he fits into this whole pop sound a lot more naturally now, there were moments on BBTM that felt a little awkward/forced but there's nothing like that on here.
Yeah definitely, he's not stretching to try to fit into any styles that don't suit him. Instead everything feels natural.
I can't believe Benny Blanco had a role in True Colors... this must be the least generic-sounding thing he's ever been involved in lol
And there's no Ed Sheeran feature. That will forever be my least favourite moment in his entire discography haha, right next to "Live For"
Waking up, half past five Blood on pillow and one bruised eye Drunk too much, you know what I'm like But you shoulda seen the other guy
Maybe I need to see more of what he's done, I mostly know him as the guy behind some of the shitty newer Maroon 5 singles.
dark pop is great, we need more of it and i was very pleasantly surprised by this record. favorites are "a lonely night", "ordinary life", and "nothing without you".
Second listen, his flow on the second verse of Reminder is intoxicating. I love this Secrets sounds like a Brandon Flowers song which is kind of dope
