Track titles have been updated on Spotify to list all the features, including some producers like Justice.
did not know Johnny Jewel was a co-producer/co-writer on Wake Me Up. still don't forgive him for fucking over Chromatics, but i'll allow this collaboration.
I think it’s too long but I honestly don’t think there are many, if any, actual lows here. And when it’s great, it’s GREAT.
maaaan this gets better and better more I listen to it, still don't really care for timeless or Sao paulo but I think they are fine for where they are in the album and not just the stand alone singles.
I'm so glad to report that I fucking love this. I was really worried about the quality of the album with the rollout but this feels like a perfect "farewell" to the Weeknd persona (if he really goes through with that). It's a big sprawling epic length which I can definitely see turning some people off, but as someone who has literally followed him from the beginning, I really love how he hits on basically all of the sounds he's ever had on this album. There's the synth/dancepop, the new-wave influence, the atmospheric R&B, and ending it with the super cinematic and dramatic last couple of songs perfectly. This really worked for me, I didn't get bored at all on my first listen and I'm still not on my third. Feels like a super fitting ending to both this trilogy and the Weeknd as a whole (again, if that actually happens). Really excited to see what he does with this tour
He's really dedicated to the Dancing In The Flames erasure, I guess he deleted all his social posts about it haha
My only criticisms are Travis Scott and Future. I’m not a fan of Travis in general and Future’s feature on “Enjoy The Show” is bad and unnecessary and ruins an otherwise great song. Other than that, I’m really enjoying this album
I really loved the last two but this just feels like a total slog to me. I kept going back to the track listing and was somehow disappointed each time that there was so much left. Plan to give it another go to see if anything clicks, though.
me and stale azzwater had a listening session on saturday night. this came into the queue and was alright.
It's just too long. It's a shame because the first few tracks are excellent. It just loses any kind of immediacy and impetus as a record about 6 songs in to me. It might eventually click but at the moment it just feels like a stream of songs rather than an album with something to say, which is weird considering how cinematic he likes to be and the narrative nature of the previous two records. São Paulo is bad too.
I've listened through a few times and I think it is those three songs with Future, Travis Scott and Carti that drag this down in that middle section. I don't think any of them are good features. Lana just doesn't hit the right chord either on 'Abyss' and I speak as someone who would love a collab album between them and think that they had never missed previously. 'Sao Paolo' works so much better in sequence and sounds really good. The best parts of this are the non-feature songs. 'Open Hearts' is unreal and stands up with the best of his work.
supposedly the album has received minor updates on streaming, such as slight lyric changes on I Can't Wait to Get There
This album grows on me a little more with each listen. At the moment I’m obsessed with the second half of Given Up On Me
