The Idol has been absolutely panned. I've not watched an episode but I'm intrigued to see just how bad it is.
It was a unique show and I can't say it was boring, and imo being unoriginal or boring are the two worst things a show can be. I give Abel props for doing something so risky.
a lot people seemed to write it off before it aired because they were feeding off whatever news about the show was released prior to. I don’t follow that stuff closely at all and just watched it as the shallow & sleazy mess that it was advertised as and found it entertaining
There were so many unresolved plot lines and none of it made sense it was bad and I still hate watched it
It was basically a high budget excuse to show softcore porn on a TV screen and it had absolutely nothing to say, honestly shocked anyone could really defend it
I think it definitely has something to say, clearly it's Abel venting frustrations he has with the industry, how everyone is just ruthlessly using each other, and how pain can be a vessel for art. My biggest issues with the show are the sloppy editing and some of the song choices, nothing with the script or acting.
I just think people don't like how callously it handles a lot of it's content, I personally found it refreshing.
I've been holding off watching it until it's all out there and I can binge it. Are there still more episodes to come? I've been avoiding spoilers and what not for that reason so I'd no idea that it's basically been panned.
last train to paris is a near classic so if this is a spiritual successor I am so down. very tired of ppl hiring the-dream tho
