Update: I still haven't found this but a lady at the record store asked if I wanted Queens of the Stone Age instead and I'm TRIGGERED
this is going to get a lot of play this weekend during long, aimless drives and/or nights with a glass of whiskey in my hand. can't wait.
Hopefully not whisky in your hand during the drive! Don't be Don Draper or Julian from Trailer Park Boys
Get such Petty/Dylan vibes from this album (band in general). I think this album is going to take my appreciation of them to a whole new level.
I can't believe looking at the tracklisting that some of those songs were as long as they say. They don't feel that long! What a great listen
This year is insane. Not only can I not come close to deciding what my top 10 would look like, I can't even decide wtf to put on right now!! It's too much lol
i'm really into this. feels more in your face than the last one, it doesn't just wash over you. digging this
Yeah to me that's the biggest shift even if it's a subtle one... The production and overall vibe feels more "direct" somehow compared to Lost in the Dream, while still keeping all the great atmosphere that album had.
tinymixtapes did a good review on this as well: Music Review: The War on Drugs - A Deeper Understanding the writer did a particularly excellent job outlining what makes Adam's guitar solos so unique to the emotion of his songs and as a contrast to "solo culture" in the classic rock tradition
Going to have to give this a full listen tomorrow - Nothing To Find popped on earlier and got those real good Springsteen vibes from it.
Same. I usually have sort of a running top 10 list in my mind. This year...nope. I'm not even sure what my AOTY is right now.
