true but there were zero goo goo dolls songs on that list so my point stands just with a different song
Feel like Slide and Name are the more noteworthy GGD songs from a 2021 perspective, but Iris was the biggest hit at the time almost for sure. Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Weezer all don't really count in this discussion, agree they're a different category even if they all have songs in the genre at hand. For me the real convo is what's the most iconic 90s song from Goo Goo Dolls, Matchbox Twenty, Third Eye Blind, Gin Blossoms, and the one/two hit wonders like The Wallflowers and Semisonic. and savage garden
Hey now, The Wallflowers had like five Top 40 hits. I feel like so many ‘90s bands get labeled “one hit wonders” because people don’t remember how much easier it was for bands to just have strings of successful singles back then. Hell, even “Sleepwalker” cracked the Hot 100.
We need a 90s alt rock thread, if there isn’t one haha. So much gold in that era to discuss, and probably plenty more that we’ve forgotten about or that slid under our radar as kids but would like to listen to now. Side note: I always wonder what great 90s music was popular in other countries that none of us have probably ever heard.
like the equally incredible songs December and Shine by Collective Soul, Shimmer belongs to an adjacent but nonetheless separate genre of wonderful 90s alt rock imo
Can we have a thread where I talk about all the post-fame 2000s records I love from big '90s bands? I've got a very long list of those.
you contradicted yourself two posts later lol goo goo dolls weren't one hit wonders third eye blind wasn't a one hit wonder wallflowers, gin blossoms, hell even fastball and eve 6 had multiple hits lol
