Definitely, although season 3 really frustrates me with how they handled the Governor character and how certain events unfolded. Seasons 4 & 5 are really good.
Idk, my thoughts on this show right now are "only two more episodes and I'm done!" It's sad that this show has become the equivalent of taking finals right before summer break, I just want it to be over so bad.
As always, one half of a season I really like, the other not so much. I do sometimes enjoy this show like I used to. But not nearly as much/often.
What other shows does everyone in here like? Asking to gauge why this show gets so much hate. At the moment I am watching Iron Fist and it's not all that great, and the wife is watching the beloved Sons of Anarchy which from what I've seen is cheesy and laughable. TWD seems like its miles above them.
Bates Motel is fucking golden this season. If you remove Rhianna (why the fuck was she hired, didn't they see Battleship?) you have easily the best season of the show.
I can't stand Sons Of Anarchy. I watched Iron Fist and enjoyed it far more than I'm enjoying this season of TWD. I don't watch a lot of tv. Really just waiting for Better Call Saul at this point.
I just binged through Sons of Anarchy this past summer for the first time and I loved it, despite some of the cheesiness. It's a fun show.
It's not cheesy in the good way that Banshee is. It's cheesy as in the "I don't understand how or why these characters are acting or thinking this way and everything is too over the top"
SOA was awesome. What a ride. Not watching much right now... Love, Please Like Me, the 100, TWD, dragon ball super, Star Wars Rebels. Oh and I'll probably give into the badlands season 2 a try. Season 1 showed potential.
In my opinion, here are several other shows that are currently airing (or have aired in the past few months) that are blowing The Walking Dead out of the water: In no particular order: Better Call Saul Fargo The Missing Love Mr. Robot Black Mirror Bloodline Stranger Things Atlanta Preacher Legion (although I'm still kind of on the fence about that - but currently more refreshing than TWD) I still watch (and from time to time, enjoy) The Walking Dead, but the caliber of writing, pacing and storytelling has significantly gone down in the past year or two.
I'm very similar to yours I'm currently watching live or waiting for new seasons to start of TWD GoT Better Call Saul mr Robot Westworld Stranger things Fargo Deulving into old shows I missed in the past and am up to S2 Sons of Anarchy S2 Vikings Designated Survivor Strain s1 Orphan black s1 Jessica jones/daredevil (once done iron fist and Luke cage) Friends nagging me I need to do Sopranos ASAP So much shows only usually 90mins a night to spare in footy season Other genres I'm getting through or live on Survivor Last man on Earth South Park Louie Workaholics Waiting for new Curb
Damn, forgot about Westworld and Curb. And The Night Of... I've had the entire series of The Wire sitting on my TV stand for 3 1/2 years. Have yet to start
Things I'm currently watching/waiting for: Tier 1: iZombie, Orphan Black, Game of Thrones, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Agents of Shield, Master of None, Atlanta Tier 2: American Horror Story, Doctor Who, Sherlock, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Jane the Virgin, Better Things, Love, Lady Dynamite, Fresh off the Boat, Speechless Tier 3: Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, New Girl, Supernatural, Once Upon a Time Tier 4: The Walking Dead, Quantico, Blindspot, Timeless, Conviction, Gotham, Scream Queens So, why does The Walking Dead get so much hate? Because it used to be in Tier 1.
The thing with TWD is that it hasn't changed, its been a slow burn since the first season. Maybe people just got tired of it which is fine, but I don't know how the show has changed. I saw people put Fargo on the their list, which is fantastic since its great, but its the same kind of slow burn show that has all the character building until something crazy happens. TWD just does it on bigger scale with 50% more characters to balance. Oh no. The bold are correct lol. Placing it with Gotham? Putting corning CW filler shows above it?
You don't think the quality had diminished over the last 3-4 seasons? The writing has been particularly weak.
To be clear, I have no problem with a 'slow burn' type of show. The problem is, TWD has introduced literally dozens of characters over the years and it's hard to really care about most of them. So when they do these one-off episodes about certain characters or communities that aren't interesting, it's not a slow burn problem, it's a 'who cares?' problem. Also, in Fargo and/or other slow burn type shows, we don't know the end game or the payoff, so it keeps us in suspense. With TWD, we ALL know there will be an all out war. I agree too with some others on here that have said the dramatic moments have become somewhat cheesy as well, or even forced. I don't know, I would says seasons 1-5, this was a top tier show for me, but over the past few years, it's become very frustrating. I think I'd enjoy it more if we knew there was an end game for this series. Seven seasons is a LONG series, and for Kirkman to keep saying stupid stuff like 'this show can go on for 20 seasons' or whatever isn't helping. I get that the source material is still being made, but eventually - for a TV series - you have to start thinking of an end game.
I really don't lol. Being a fan of the books, I love the extention/different takes of these characters. Haha this made me almost spit out my drink Yeah I can't say anything bad about Fargo, esp season 2 was so perfect. I do think of the ratings slip for this show, Kirtman will find a way to end the show real quick lol
