People are actually upset about the gore? That is ridiculous. Especially with the source material being so much more brutal than the show...
The complaints about gore and violence I believe are directly related to the character. Merle got his face stabbed repeatedly, nobody said anything.
OK, fair game. Rick hacked a guy to death with a machete and splattered his blood all over himself. The episode before that, multiple people had their throats slit while tied up. It's related to the character for sure.
I just think it had to do with the baseball bat and the fact that it was multiple hits. The thing in Terminus with the throat slicing was a quick slice and they bled out. With Lucille it was a constant beating, and they weren't dead after one hit, it was just excessive hitting and crunching sound effects; all that added up. I'm not the one complaining, I was grinning the whole time, but I think this was definitely a lot more brutal than most kills.
I'd say the only thing that stepped it up a notch was he hit Glenn twice, then mocked him. That was a step up for harshness. And seeing Glenn suffering for about 10 seconds. But, I hate to say it, after that third hit, Glenn wasn't feeling a thing.
Wasn't poor Noah's death more brutal? I think the helplessness and intensity of Negan's kills made it worse for some people.
Except I didn't really like Noah at all. Also, considering his death was directly responsible for the death of Tyrese, I was more angry than anything.
Wait a sec, it's not Noah's fault that Nicholas sucked so much This has probably already been mentioned but I'm intensely curious to see how they have Daryl deal with Glenn's death, and not just in reaction to Maggie later when I'm sure they meet again.
That picture made me think of something. One day, maybe in season 10, they'll run into that Hispanic family that bailed on them on the way to the CDC.
I guess I'm one of the few people that thinks the episode was done very well. I think that by not killing Glen, you stray too far from the already very different source material. And the way it played out adds a dynamic with Daryl that could lead to all sorts of interesting plot points. Abraham had run his course anyway. So what if Glen's death overshadowed his. It should. Abraham wasn't on the same level as Glen. The added bit of Negan completely breaking Rick was incredible.
It was a fantastic episode. Yeah I said to my mate about Negz breaking Rick was almost like Ramsey to Reek in GoT
Aside from getting impatient at the beginning because I thought they were gonna hold the deaths off til the last ten minutes, I thought every thing was great about it. Not taking into account how I felt it should've happened last season lol. I think they nailed the comics and did something new just right. I really didn't expect them to show that much brutality and I was glad they did.
I wasn't a fan of the cliffhanger. And I wonder if would have been better to have Abraham die last season during the finale and then Glen during the premier. That would have been even more shocking after everyone believed it was just going to be Abraham the whole time.
If you could have saved one of them from dying who would you have chosen? I think I would of enjoyed seeing more of Abraham's story even though he went out like a boss.
