This is the first season where I'm legitimately not at all excited / doubting I'll even watch. I enjoyed a decent chunk of the last season, but that finale left such an awful taste in my mouth that I can't even force myself to care anymore.
Can we not post huge spoilers like that? If people want to see them they can search for them. I can't scroll through the page on mobile without revealing it.
Sorry, everyone. Deleted it. I thought about it after I had posted it and yeah that was a mistake on my part. My apologies.
Amen. I'm not usually a big complainer with tv shows and just go with the flow, but I really felt insulted on that finale. So many filler scenes and huge chunks spent literally driving up and down a road (for an extended episode, no less). All to create tension and build up to a cliffhanger. Wouldn't have been so bad, but they've been using that "boring episode/exciting cliffhanger ending" formula a lot, lately. It's such a cheap way to say "Well, you've invested this much time already. You might as well watch next week to see if we resolve the ending from last time..."
Writing this show off now is foolish IMO, seeing as we're entering what is probably the defining story arc of the comics, spearheaded by the defining villain of the comics. There is so much good stuff coming up, and Negan is a good enough character too keep me 100% interested in this show by himself.
I trust that the arc is good and the cast is great, but the directors still find a way to make it uninteresting. haha. I'm not saying other people should quit watching, but I personally haven't felt any excitement thinking about the new season. That said, I still plan on watching the premiere just because.
JDM and the fact that I don't know anything that happens after meeting Negan is why I'm still watching. They're on a pretty short leash with me though haha.
I'm still watching because I simply can't not know. But last season did not top 5. There's maybe a solid 4 episodes I thoroughly enjoyed.
I echo most sentiments being expressed here. I am very interested in the new season, but was so annoyed and underwhelmed by the finale that I considered not watching.
I think Season 7 will be better than the train wreck of season 6. AMC and the crew was very aware of the backlash season 6 had and the way the story was handled. No way will they make those same mistakes.
I get that, but the show needs to be able to stand alone. If the show is not worth watching at this point to someone, why should they push through for it to maybe be as good as the comics? I honestly don't know if I will watch. I skipped like the 3 episodes before the finale and despised the finale. I just don't know.
Has anyone read the spoiler outline for 7A? It's not heavily detailed but you can tell the season will be way more organized, something Season 6 was lacking in the first half. I won't post it here but you can find it on spoilthedead.
lol i just spent 30 minutes watching the s6 finale reaction vids on youtube. what am i doing w/ my life.
I watched some over the summer. Seeing the look on everyone's face when Negan begins to pick someone from the crowd is worth it
Season 6 just hit Netflix and my brother watched that part for the first time and called BS immediately. He claimed to be spoiler free.
I now realize I forgot the 's' in dumpster and so I edited it but now it's quoted and everyone will know forever. What a disappointing life. I knew for sure he was alive because I know someone who worked on the show and they spilled the beans, lol.
I honestly think just the fact that it happened mid episode and then he wasn't on Talking Dead after was pretty telling.
The second half was pretty strong. I have trouble recalling things though lol. I think I remember thinking there was one three show stretch that was among the best in the series. And then the finale happened and I blocked the show out of my mind or something haha.
