I feel like Fear has had some of the best Walking Dead stuff and also some of the worst... The last few seasons have been bad.
Finally about to finish this series. Hate that I didn’t watch as it aired. Just finished “Faith”. What a wild last 20 minutes! Had me on the edge of my seat like it hasn’t done in awhile.
I think it’s just because when it was live it felt slow but binge watching season 2 makes the pacing work. Plus the Rick and Shane dynamic was great. Daryl was still part outcast. The stare downs between Dale and Shane. It was peak television.
(To add, I’ve watched since season 2 was airing. I’ve just been spotty on watching live these last 2 seasons) Just finished it all. Where the FUCK is Rick Grimes. I’m surprised there were no jaw dropper deaths in the last few episodes and everything resolved mostly…… happily ever after. Super stoked to see Ezekiel as the new Gov and Mercer as a true good guy. The “time to fuck shit up” at the end of Faith episode had me giddy. I’m sad the show is over, but it’s seems like it’s still going to be continuing in a different forms.
Season 3 received hate but it’s one of the standouts. Actually, Glenn dying really did a number. He was a character that just added so much emotion to each scene he was in. You’d always know he was there and was a prime example of a Walking Dead character. Maggie was a little better as Glenn’s counterpart as well. His absence really hurt the show unlike in the comic.
I think I want to now get through(suffer) World Beyond and then... maybe start and inevitably not finish a rewatch.
As someone who recalls pretty vividly watching seasons 2 and 3 week to week when it aired, I don't remember any slander/complaints about the show. It was very highly rated by fans and critics. It wasn't until Seasons 5 and 6 that people really started to grow tired of it.
Season 2 was definitely a bit of a slog for me, Shane and Rick fighting over Lori lol. Season 6 when they started overdoing the death fake outs is when it started getting weaker I think. Whenever the dumpster happened. And Rick hiding in that carnival ride or whatever. It got ridiculous It was funny reading the comics after the fact and finding out they were only at the farm for a day and a half in the comic
i watched fully through season 8 and havent seen an episode since, but I think 2nd half of S2 through mid Season 4 was the show's peak. S1 was a great intro, the first half of S2 sucked with the Otis thing and Carl getting shot and everyone looking for Sophia but once they discovered the barn and everything went unhinged on the farm in the 2nd half, it got way better. The Governor episodes were just incredible, and when the halfway point in S4 hit and we spent the rest of the season with everyone separated it was so so so bad. The introduction of Negan i think gave some new life to the show but, i quickly got tired of JDM's Negan, his mannerisms and way of speaking just got so over the top and borderline annoying.
Woah woah waoh, the back half of season 4 with all the separate groups was GREAT. I loved that. In went so well that they ended up leaning way too much into that formula, but getting the bottle episodes focused on small groups that back half was really cool/good.
I definitely remember people complaining about season 2 being too slow and boring. I didn’t think that but seemed like a lot of people did at the time. They hated the whole barn storyline
i liked the barn discovery, it made the season interesting. how is that not a huge twist, the ho-hum perfect farm family has a deep dark secret hidden in plain sight, somehow no one saw it coming lol glenn's "so....theres walkers in the barn" scene was great
Yeah a lot of people were def complaining about season 2 and the Sophia storyline and how long they were at the farm and etc. BUt I liked it. The barn door opening and Sophia coming out was such a great heavy scene.
there was a lot wrong with S2 especially in the beginning, i remember thinking "i hope they never find sophia" after that entire episode of daryl and andrea just going house to house looking for her. the intro to S2 with the hoard of walkers on the freeway was awesome though. one of my favorite segments of anything i ever watched in the show.
I like the first half of TWD season 4 a lot, especially during the flu arc where the main threat to the group wasn’t walkers or other people. The second half is still good, but the tone of the show really changed having 3 main characters used for comic relief (Tara, Eugene, Abraham) at the same time and I still don’t like that abrupt transition. I still maintain that season 3 of Fear the Walking Dead is the best season of any show in the franchise.
