In that one TV spot for this season where she just casually raises her gun (and then what looks like her winking) is pretty cringeworthy. Also I’m glad they changed the way Maggie says “the world is ours”. The way she said it in the trailer and TV spot sounded lame for some reason. I don’t know.
I say it every year, but I just wish to God they'd start thinking of an end-game. I think that should have been done 2 seasons ago. It's pretty clear they were/are milking these past few seasons for ratings. Building in new meaningless characters that no one cares about, doing the one-off episodes that only follows one or two people, taking half a season to tell a side of everyone's story. I feel like they've been writing in circles for years now. They really need to just start focusing on the end. But, then you got Kirkman saying stupid shit like, this can go 20 seasons, blah, blah, blah.
yeah, I mean i'm sure it could go 20 seasons (and fuck me I'll watch every single one of them) but it shouldn't. I think this show should end with whatever the resolution is with this war with the saviors. I know theres soo much more comic story they can run with, but they can also stretch this "all out war" storyline over the next 2 seasons, and I have a feeling they will, and then at the end, instead of neegan getting captured like in the comics, he just gets killed and it ends with those flashforward scenes we've seen so far with this premiere.
also, i was half expecting in those flashforward scenes to see negan, and have him now be good, like helping and living with them, that would have been a pretty interesting spin, but I think the goal is to eventually kill him off the show in a very satisfying way
I think my least favorite thing about this show ever. Her character is unbearable now. I don't know if they expected us to just think she like snapped or something, but it's completely stupid
there's so many characters they have 0 time to develop them. do we even know what that girl carl has the hots for's backstory is by this point? i dont even remember her name. they just introduce characters and expect you to just get invested in them.
Are you familiar with the comics? I'm not, but I do read spoilers every now and then... Spoilers below about the flash forward scenes: In the comics, the Whisperers attack during the fair or festival, which is what Rick and Michonne are talking about at the end of the flash forward sequence. So I'm guessing this season will end with the Whisperers attacking and that will be Season 9. I really hope they don't drag the war out more than this first half season. Hoping the first half finale is Negan getting captured and then the second half of season is Negan in their prison and them adapting to new life until Whisperers attack.
interesting, i know about the whisperers but i didnt think that would come into play so soon. i am all for them wrapping up All Out War as soon as possible.
That's what I read online, and the significance of them mentioning the festival or fair, or whatever. I have no first-hand knowledge because I don't read the comics.
I would like to see The Whisperers storyline in the show for sure, but they need to make it far more than just a war between two sides like we have in the show currently. Constant gun battles between different factions is just bland now, they should explore group dynamics more, and the building of communities that are closer to getting back to "normal" than the show has shown so far, and show the differences between how Rick's side and The Whisperers approach things or whatever.
that definitely makes sense. my friend who I mainly discuss this show with has read all the comics to date so im interested to hear his take on this now.
Does anyone think they put emphasis on things not being about Rick anymore? They mentioned that throughout the episode and I have read comic book spoilers after the All Out War arc and have noticed Rick isn't in as many issues because there is in fact character development with others. Sorry if this is any sort of spoiler, but my phone doesn't have the option to cover things.
I think what he meant by "it's not about me" when he kept saying it over and over was, it's not about his personal vendetta against Negan, which is IMO a big step for Rick, because the last few seasons it's always been Ricks way or no way, everything is about him, and I think he's starting to look at bigger picture. People have been hrut way worse by Negan than rick has, 2 seasons ago there's no way Rick would have backed down to Gabriel that quickly with Negan right there for the killing. I think the show will definitely continue to feature Rick as it's main character and protagonist, if that was really what you were looking to ask.
I wonder if and when Kirkman decides to end The Walking Dead, if he'll wait to release the comic of the ending until after the airing of the series finale for the show. Obviously, if he were to publish the comic first, everyone would read the spoilers and the ending would be ruined. I don't think anyone would be able to avoid the spoilers for the conclusion. And I know the show diverts from the comics every now and then, but I doubt it would from the ending.
It frustrates me that the show doesn’t pick up the pace since the comics are roughly 55 issues ahead of the show. The really do need to plan an endgame with the show, even if it’s another 4-5 years. There is no danger of catching up to the source material and even if they do (like GoT did) they could always use those writers they’re paying. I HOPE the all out war storyline is resolved by midseason, but I would bet on it lasting the entire season. I have absolutely no knowledge of anything here-that’s just my gut feeling.
Idk, I don't put that much weight into articles like that anymore. Even in that article it's just andrew lincoln saying that if the writers theoretically felt it fit, he would be on board. Doesn't mean it's even in the cards to ever happen.
It's hard to say this coming off of last seasons Glenn fiasco, but honestly what this show lacks the most is emotional investment. It's so rare that a main character gets whacked, its always replaceable secondary characters. Give me some emotion, make me feel pity for these people. I'm watching a show about people struggling to live in the apocalypse and I feel no pity or sadness for them at all. Seems weird honestly.
Since the writers idea of an original concept is the landfill kingdom, please don't outpace the comics lol
