i didn't really have any expectations for this at all so im a little shocked at how positive the press has been for it
Sequencing on this drives me crazy, which I think is kind of the point, and I feel like it could be shaved down a bit, but I have been unexpectedly obsessed with this album this week.
So I saw this was getting reviewed by P4K today and I had totally forgotten about it. It’s definitely all over the map but “Leave It In My Dreams” is one of the best songs of the year. I feel early on like this album is going to be one of those cult classics way down the road.
it really takes a minute to dive into but its got some of julians best songs. one of the ones wink pink ocean leave it in my dreams are all spectacular.
The highlights of this album are really high... it's a good album, but I think if they cut 15-20 minutes off of it, it would be a great album.
Going to echo what most people are saying, but this could certainly use some trimming to the tune of 15ish minutes or so. Even with the wonky, schizophrenic and slightly disorienting sequencing, the high points are definitely very high and unique (that synth solo and groove in Pink Ocean is marvelous). Nice to see Julian and Albert both release great solo albums within a month or so of each other, but I'd be lying if recent interviews and their clear "meh" attitude towards The Strokes doesn't make me a little bit sad. Nothing gold can stay.
I hated this when it came out, and its really starting to click now. excited to see them at riot fest
Again, the misses are definitely misses, but there are some legit amazing songs on this that I have been coming back to all year.
