If they give me another album in the vein of Artwork, I will die of happiness! I want them to work with a different producer but I'm not holding my breath lol
Not only is Artwork a really solid album, but for me it came out of nowhere and didn't expect it to be as good. When it came out, it was the first album in awhile that it was hard to pick out a favorite track and not skip around.
"Cry" was their best song in ten years. I probably think that just because it had some screaming in it. God I miss Bert's old screamy days.
It's sad that some of the groups I love like Used and AFI aren't able to play some of their best songs live because they can't scream anymore.
"Cry" was by far the best song on IE but I still think it was worse than the best on any of their other albums. The screaming was definitely the best thing about it though.
Off of IE I really liked Revolution, Cry, Make Believe, Evolution, and the title track. I don't think any of the songs are bad though.
Here I am repeating the same things I always do lol but Evolution is a top Used song of all time for me! Love, love, love that song. I also really love Cry and think it was their best single since the Artwork days. And Force Without Violence is great. The only songs I don't really love off that album are El Oh Vee Ee, Generation Throwaway, and Make Believe.
During that podcast ep with their old Drummer and Quinn, wasn't it said that both of them wrote all the music in past albums? With no Quinn I'd assume it'll be a lot different no matter what anyway out of necessity.
Got a feeling these guys are up to something. They changed their FB pic with an updated "U" logo earlier today. The_Used_Fan, where you at??!
Seeing them this upcoming Saturday at Musink along with Glassjaw and Story of the Year :) Excited for this one.
Indeed it is... Friday and Sunday have cool lineups tooo but they lean more "classic punk". Saturday is very clearly more for fans of '00s stuff. Goldfinger is playing too btw.
If the date was 5 years instead of 10, it would be 100% correct. That means its better than anything on Artwork or Vulnerable....which an argument for it being better than anything on Vulnerable could be made I guess.
It's definitely better than anything on Vulnerable, and MAYBE there's a couple on Artwork that could be better. I just think nothing got me more excited than hearing him scream in the bridge the first time I listened to that song
I thought Vulnerable was a miss overall, but Hands and Faces and I Come Alive make my Used playlist. There isn't screaming in them and Cry is probably catchier so I'll give it that. I'd put almost every track on Artwork above Cry though, esp Sold My Soul, Blood on My Hand, Men Are All The Same, Meant To Die and Best of Me. I know I'm in the minority of people who love that album and I'd even place it 3rd overall after the first two.
I can tell you Artwork is definitely better as a whole than Imaginary Enemy. Imaginary Enemy is their worst record in my opinion
This is kind of where I'm at. The Used was excellent, In Love and Death had a few really great tunes, Lies for the Liars had a couple good songs, Artwork had a few passable tracks, andVulnerable and Imaginary Enemy had absolutely zero songs that stayed in my memory. These guys are like Taking Back Sunday for me - I'm not even sure I'm paying attention anymore
I'll always pay attention just because of how much I love the first album but I'm definitely more curious than excited these days.
I still quite like Artwork as well, and even Lies for the Liars. Vulnerable and Imaginary Enemy I would put a tier lower but I wouldn't say I dislike them either. They're the type of band to me that I can enjoy in varying degrees pretty much whenever.
