Wow! That's a surprisingly good setlist. Would love to hear Hospital and Wake The Dead live. The Used Setlist at Troubadour, West Hollywood
Can't believe they played Just a Little the first night. Would LOVE to hear that. Plus Hurt No One and Tunnel! I prefer the first night's setlist over the 2nd night but I'm just so happy they are finally switching the setlist up.
Not sure I buy that. Dustin of Thrice and Shane of Silverstein have been performing with screamed/yelled/growled vocals as long or longer than The Used and both can still deliver powerful vocals. There's technique, maybe Bert and Jeph just never learned it. Keith Buckley and Jon Mess are 2 more just off the top of my head. ETA Buddy Nielsen, Anthony Green, Toby Morrell
Here's their setlist from SLC a couple nights ago: I'm A Fake Take It Away The Bird and the Worm Empty With You Taste of Ink All That I've Got Buried Myself Alive I Caught Fire Blow Me Sick Hearts Lunacy Fringe Paralyzed Pretty Handsome Awkward Box Full of Sharp Objects (and apparently On My Own was written on the setlist, but didn't get played)
I haven't listened to The Used in 10+ years and know every song on that setlist...are they just pretty much playing old shit despite having 3 or 4 albums since Artwork? Also, On My Own being on the setlist, but not played is a literal poetic tragedy.
When your fans are coming to see songs they know and your best work is your first 4 albums, this is what you get. There are a handful of great tracks post-Artwork but not enough to eclipse the twin juggernauts of the first 2 albums. At least we get Shallow Believer tracks!
Listening to second half of ILAD and then started the Canyon. Funny thing with the Canyon, my mp3 put the two discs together, so it's track 1 of one disc, then track 1 of the other, track 2 of one, track 2 of the other and so on. lol So I just said f it and I am listening to it that way now. Got up to one of my favorite songs, Moon-Dream. Hey! did they take the full album down off YouTube?? edit: oh wait! i think they do have it, I just couldn't post it in a thread as a full album (it only listed the current track because it's a playlist, not one video.) yeah, so I can finally do this though
I only listened to The Canyon once when it came out, but I have been considering revisiting it. Just hard to find the time or motivation for 17 songs at 1 hour, 19 minutes haha.
yeah, i gotcha! I almost never listen to the whole thing at one time. You can do one disc then the next, maybe?
I really encourage people to revisit The Canyon. If you can put aside the production choices I feel like it's really a high water mark for the band.
Of all the songs, Listening is the one stuck right now. That was where I started with ILAD tonight...plus it was on the last tweet by the band. :D
Oh yeah. I forgot about that fun news! But Tonight I listen to the first half of the Used ILAD and The "second half" of The Canyon. Take take take take take take it away!
Sweet deal! So I was right that the album was called Paradise Lost. I was seeing posts about it being the song and I felt a little silly at the time. Now I don't anymore. That's always nice!
